Former Kentucky player tweet Coach John Calipari is leaving Kentucky to coach Lakers.

But Kentucky was ranked number 1 in the nation going into the season because of their freshman class. They took a while to gel, so their season as a whole didn't justify a high seed, but you can argue they were a lot better, and had a lot more potential, than your typical 8.

lots of teams are ranked high to start the season
and often those teams are out of the top 25 by season's end

So how long before we start hearing Kevin Ollie rumors?

He's not leaving the huskies, it's his Alma Mater and he's only been there 2 years.

Caliperi? The dude is as loyal as a cat. I still don't want him as the Lakers coach though. We need Byron Scott to right the ship.

    Two things, for me anyway in my little corner of the world;

Fuck the LAD network.... because of the shit I have to see/listen to now sucks (and pay for also), and I feel totally like I've been drummed out of the Dodger corps of fans, and I am not part of it all as much as I used to be. Fucking cocksuckers.
(Actually some other teams have fair to middling broadcasters- I guess I'm gonna see 'em all...but for every SF duo and the Tigers guys (aren't bad at all), there's Padre and AZ announcers that come with that, too. I think the NYY John Sterling is little more than a clown, but compared to some, he's Red Barber.

And although I admired and always looked up to Henry Aaron and his historic achievements for years and years, his recent "if you disagree with any of Obama's policies, you are a memeber of the KKK" is as ignorant and steeped in the uniformed racist past as George Wallace was. What a fucking idiot he is, and is an embarrassment on so many levels for that, I'm burning his rookie card. He's entitled to his dumbfuck opinion, I know, but sometimes Hammerin' Hank, silence is golden, you unaware moron.
    Fuck 44.

    totally agree
an ignorant and irresponsible statement on his part
can you imagine if it had been the other way around?...
what if cal ripken had said "if you disagree with any of bush's policies, you are a member of the nation of islam"
people would be calling him a racist and for him to lose every job/position/sponsorship he had
who knows, maybe hank's beginning to get a bit senile...

Yes, I do. but I can't hear/see the LAD broadcast evidently, as only the team they are playing is the one I can catch.
Christ, even the Yankees broadcast on the package, and they've had their shit on the YES network for years and years.
    Sucks.
    Bring back Frank.

These games are now ending approximately 2AM on the east coast now...later than ever. Incredible. That combined with the "whoever we are playing broadcasts" I have to watch, rather than the Dodgers, is making the LAD 2014 experience way less exciting than it used to be.
I guess the greed that seems neccessary for them is tantamount, and fuck fans that aren't in LA, or who ever can see and hear Vinny.
IDK why, but I keep thinking that this is the team that traded Jackie to the fucking Giants.
And if they spend 500 million a year, if these guys can't play defense, which they can't, this is how the nickname "Bums" comes about...or similar.

Blue has a hard time being a baseball fan.
I have a friend that came to live with me a few years back.
We no longer hang out much because Lakers games destroy his mood.
He becomes impossible to be around.
Dude pretty much hates life including the things he likes most.
I feel real bad for him because I've been watching him get worse and worse past decade.
It's this sort of obsession with things not being how they hoped yet feeling powerless to effect change so they remain ever frustrated.
Like st George vs Moby dick.

    i don't think that's a fair assessment
there are many people here just as passionate about the dodgers as bluezoo, myself included
and keep in mind many of us came from a different time...
a time when the dodgers appeared in the fall classic fairly regularly
in the first 28 years of my life, the dodgers played in eight word series -- that (for you non-mathematics majors) is an average of every 3.5 years
they also won four of those eight times... or every seven years
spoiled? maybe, but it's what fans of this organization were accustomed to

    now flash to post-1988
    it's been 25 years... 25 years!!!
want me to put that in perspective?
    in 1988...
    - the yankees first baseman was a 27 year-old named don mattingly
    - bush sr was president
    - magic was still playing (and winning) for the lakers
    - gas was <$1/gallon

think guys like bz, diablo, darth, tuborg, bps, me and others may be getting a bit tired of this team falling short year after year?
well i for one certainly am
tired of the same "this is our year" bullshit every fucken year
so when someone like bluezoo chooses to vent
there might be a little more to it...

I'm not commenting on him venting.
I understand why he is venting as well.
    Including the history.
    I commented on his comment.
    His comment displayed one perspective.
    My comment reflected that perspective.
    Since you brought up perspective.

you said he had a hard time being a fan
    i don't agree
imo, part of being a fan is expressing your disdain for their shortcomings
just as it is celebrating and savoring their accomplishments
    just my :2cents:

Btw I didn't mean that you guys that are die hard fans that watch die hard on amc during the commercials are like my Lakers fan friend, he doesn't even like die hard.
What I meant was that it sucks to end up that way.
Not that blue or anyone else is like that.
It's better to vent online here (probably what it's for) than to grouse around at home.

Irish you keep stating an issue but make a case for a completely different issue.
My comments in no way are saying what you say they are saying
So it's a communication problem maybe?

sounds like a conversation about an old issue
    turning into a curmudgeon
    it happens
i try to stay optimistic as i can all the time but after you see it ending up the same way over and over...
and i'm not just talking sports since they are pretty low on my list of things to get upset over
but i do pay attention and that can be a problem
