    Yeah, it was a great movie. I loved the scene when they make it to the state tournament, and he measures the rim and tells them "it's the same as back home"...yeah baby. Just win.
    Hackman has been in lots of 'em, too. That was a really cool "small school" yarn, and done so well. I don't know if that kid who had that deadly outside jumpshot was really that good, or they just used trick photography, but that flic kept my interest from first scene to the last.
    It's been like a template for so many other films, basketball and other sports, that followed.

    totally agree
    as i've made clear many times, i'm not a mattingly fan
    but i don't like scioscia's managing style either
    whereas donnie sometimes seems clueless
    scioscia seems like he wants his hands on everything
    calls every pitch, every pickoff, every pitchout, every play
    i understand you're the manager but doesn't there come a point where you trust the players to play?
    and while i can't say for sure, seems to me he's lost the team and his players have grown tired of him being a control freak
    no way in hell that team should have lost to the royals, let alone get swept

    not sure why we're still pitching to carpenter
    if anyone needs to get drilled, it's him
    and please, PLEASE, stop throwing him first pitch fastballs!!!

    mlb network just dropped a stat...
    no one has more HR's since the all star break than matt kemp :irish:

    hindsight is always 20/20, but i'm soooooooooo glad we didn't give in and trade him

    I could be mistaken, but I don't remember him being like that when he had a Molina behind the dish. Perhaps he's just been forced to do that because of what he's had to work with.
