Yer kiddin' me, right? You think focusing on a bunch of fickle teenagers is better business than focusing on the national loyalty of several different countries? And don't forget, the youth is going to be drawn by young stars like Puig-it's part of their job to appeal to young fans and help build the fan base.
Not sure you understood what I said or meant by iFA's being great but why stop there. The kardashian thing isn't even something ownership is persuing, I doubt they're behind it but it only makes sense to capitalize on it.
Oh that, that's like a lay up in basketball. It's there for the taking, you don't have to pursue it. The media is gonna knock that one out of the park. I don't see a need to waste any time and effort on something that creates its own publicity.
Agreed. It's ridiculous really. Grandall? Seriously? If that trade goes down the FO can go you know what themselves
I'm not thrilled on the idea of trading Matt either, but at the same time I'm not going to say trading him is stupid before we know what we're getting back. If it's Grandal, Cashner and say another piece, that would be a nice haul. Obviously there's a .005% chance that happens, but you get what I'm saying. I'm fully in the don't trade Kemp camp though.
Yeah, Grandall is not worth losing Kemps bat. Honestly, neither were the guys from Seattle that back2back keeps talking about when looking into next years FA pitchers. We haven't even fixed our SS problem.
Trade him and Puig. Some cancers require chemotherapy. MLB's version of chemotherapy is to make a trade. So do it. Get rid of anyone that isn't in touch with the 'team' concept. I am willing to give Puig one more season to figure it out.
I'd trade Kemp if it led to signing Lester or Scherzer, or if we got like Kevin Gausman or Taijuan Walker. Otherwise I'd keep him.
People talk like it would be Kemp for Grandal straight up, that's not the case. I have to imagine this the situation where they would move a starter, be it Kennedy (no thanks), Cashner or Ross for offense, as has been talked about.
But that would leave us with no offense. Puig is too streaky, CC and Ethier cant hit RHP, Pederson could be great, but he could be a 300 SO bust (he needs time at a AAA team that its not Albuquerque), SVS is nothing more than a platoon player... I could have seen a Kemp move if we had kept Hanley, but with a big question mark at SS, there's no way I will like a Kemp trade, even if it lands us Lester... we would see many 2-1 loses...
I'm not saying I agree with it, but strictly from a value perspective, that wouldn't be bad. Now, from a need perspective, you're right, makes them way too left-handed.
The thing that pisses me off that no one is talking about is that clubs are asking for money to come back to them in a potential deal....lol, are they fucking nuts? I can guarantee you that if Kemp was a FA this off-season, his contract would be for longer and for more money that what his contract is now. Again, I'm not absolutely shutting the door on a Kemp deal, but I think we would need to be blown away and have that move be the first in a series of dominoes, i.e. leading to a signing of a top tier SP and a couple RPs.
