Giants face the Nationals starting Monday, and they face Gio Gonzalez in game 1 (14-6, 3.32 ERA), Jordan Zimmerman in game 2 (9-6, 2.35 ERA), and last not certainly not least, Stephen Strasburg in game 3 who is 13-5 with a 2.90 ERA. No excuse for Washington not to take 2 out of 3 and they could possibly sweep with those three pitching. Could be a great week for us if we do well vs Pittsburgh who has been struggling lately.
Good call and now we know the impossible is no longer a term in Dodger town. Damn amazing what new owners can do and you know Ned is still working the phones to pick up a 3rd baseman or 1st baseman. The downside is that now that we are back in first and if we move ahead of the Giants and stay ahead of the Diamondbacks they can put a claim in ahead of us just to block us. But there is hope for both a pickup at third and first. Mets are 9.5 back and I am still wondering if they can afford David Wright and may need to make a move with us before we pick up someone elsewhere. When you have deep pockets and teams need to dump payroll you become real popular. Ned was popular before but for the wrong reasons
Occupy 1st Place Thread? Even if teams can block doesn't mean they will -- for fear the waiving team might stick you with the player/contract (see Randy Myers). There's a reason we were the only ones who claimed Lee and, quite honestly, I believe our FO was actually hoping Philly would dump his contract on us. Regarding Wright, the Mets still have him for 2013 and have stated that re-signing him is a priority. And even if they were willing to move him, who could we offer? Lee, Reed, Webster???
Thought I posted but perhaps I didn't an article recently from NY press saying that the Mets are saying the right things but Wright is beyond their affordability
We could win the World Series in 5 games against the New York Yankees and TB would complain we didn't win in 4.
Well that was short-lived. Would be nice if we were at worst tied with SF for 1st by the time that series rolls around in a little over a week. But then again we have to play the Pirates and Braves
I think we should do fine vs Pittsburgh, but Atlanta is going to be tough. I just hope Washington takes care of San Francisco.
Yeah, like we did the first two months when our team(on papyrus) was far worse than it is now...It just baffles the mind how inconsistant we have been lately.
