i'll start caring again once the players show me they care
they'll have a horrible at bat or make a mistake on the field and then have almost zero reaction
as everyone knows, i'm not a big mattingly supporter...
but at least he shows he cares
and bravo to him for having the cojones to bench that prima donna cunt dre
i'd like to see him sit a few more of these spoiled overpaid punk fucken bkitches down tbh

    • Team president Stan Kasten, along with GM Ned Colletti, expressed agreement with Mattingly's attempts to light a fire under the team. And Kasten did say that Mattingly's job was not at risk. But he also made clear that it would be if the team can't reverse its fortunes: "I do expect us to turn it around, and because of that, I expect Donnie to be here for a long time. There's another side of that, if things don't go well."

    • ESPN.com's Buster Olney writes the Mets make the most sense of the possible trade suitors for Andre Ethier (subscription required). According to Olney, the Dodgers will only deal Ethier if they decide he can no longer be an effective player for them and are willing to absorb a large portion of the approximately $80MM due the outfielder over the next five years.
    • Don Mattingly has all the hallmarks of a manager in quicksand and is conjuring up images of Clint Hurdle during his final days as manager of the Rockies, opines Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post. Hurdle vowed to exercise more authority by creating new rules and benched Troy Tulowitzki for violating one of those rules. Hurdle was fired one week later. Mattingly benched Matt Kemp for today's game calling it a "baseball decision" and not a disciplinary reaction to Kemp expressing his displeasure at being removed in a double-switch the night before, reports Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

The national media are a bunch of hacks. If anything has been proven over the last several days is that Don is the last of the Dodgers problems. And I was on the other side of the spectrum. As the last several games have unfolded, it has become more and more evident there is nothing he can do.

    Firing Don does nothing.

I thought Buster O was better than this. Don is going nowhere and he shouldn't at this point.

If Mets want, I'll do Ethier and 80 for Zack Wheeler

Come on guys I know we are playing like shit but I don't think for a second that they don't care. They are professionals (allegedly anyway), if they get pissed off when bad shit happens or hang their head then the next ball that comes their way they will surely fail. I don't have access to the locker rooms but I just cannot believe that this team isn't taking this shit hard.

how hard can you take it when your bank account continues to swell?
its a pride thing like dbb said. not enough guys saying "you aren't getting me out today" and meaning it. passive at best.
can it turn around? of course but the general malaise and lack of pride appears to be team wide.
w the exceptions of a few. kershaw, punto and gonzo more or less. maybe the rest are just bad.
i hate the poor fielding from cc and stupid base running no matter what he's bringing to the plate.
i tend to disagree that a manager change doesn't matter. a guy could be preaching a bear down approach but if the team doesn't listen you need to find someone to get them to listen.
the other option is to jettison the entire team which doesn't sound so bad. just keep gonzo, punto and the starters.

While its nice to see you guys come around to he fact the guy writing down the lineup isn't the problem, you guys are fucked. Fact is ownership knows less about baseball the Steinbrenners and has done the worst job of simply throwing away money in the history of the game. For years I've listened to the Yankee money argument only to sit back and laugh when the Red Sox, angels, bluejays, etc have tried and failed to repeat our efforts. The la dodgers have lowered the bar and I doubt their combination of funds and stupidity can be matched.

It takes more than money to build the Yankees. Sorry boutcha.

LMAO...yeah the Red sox failed? The Angels and Dodgers just started to play this game like this. Fuck, the Yankees took forever to "get it right". They had it right, and then they seemed to forget throughout Don mattingly's time there. Then got it right again.

The dodgers are doing it right, they are investing well into the inor leagues system. That is the key, just as it's been for the Yankees....the big spending is to fill in the blanks. That's when the it all should click.

i agree. so far the worst that can be said is that they overspent in an effort to win right now. and the jury is still out on that.

Well, the only argument to made with their "investments" are due to injuries really. I mean Greinke got fucked up, and Hanely is injury prone, Beckett is hurt too. AGon & CC, are fine. League has been up and down but only blown 2 saves since his arrival...looked good again last 2 outings.
