When I look at footage from the old days, players looked like they were a bunch of blue collar, rugged, get your hands dirty, hard nosed MEN. Like your dad dressed as a ball player. You looked up to them. Ballplayers now act like teenagers. Not men.
So, to recap, Vogelsong, Scutariod, and Cabrera. All found kind of fountain of youth or sudden huge improvement over their whole careers. I wonder what they have in common?
There is a long thread on PSD about Scutariod. I'm really the only guy and I was taking on the world. It's amazing how so many people think he's just having a "hot streak". He's got over 300 plate appearances! When is it not a streak anymore? It's been almost half a season's worth of games.
The thing about it for me: The Cards, although extremely lucky/fortunate at times, are an excellent franchise that has been our main rival as class of the senior circuit. And they've separated themselves from us the past 15+ years. So them winning brings out some jealousy and inferiority. I do NOT feel inferior or jealous AT ALL to the Giants. They are an ugly mid market team that almost moved to Florida and took advantage of us having shit ownership. And they think they're bad ass. I just hate their players and fans. And if they win it will be unbearable.
Not to saber rattle or even go on to the drawn sword in the French manual of arms, (which seems to be how the world has chosen to express hostilities, at whatever level), but if you don't feel outclassed and totally beat up by the way the Giants have left us in the dust for the last few recent years, then you're taking a dirt nap, with all due respect. Not to mention, with seemingly an inferior lineup , have bashed the shit out of us from pillar to post. Ran rings around us...and never fell apart when their best hitter was ejected like flotsam off a navy detroyer...just kept on going. Steamed right ahead, better than before. Not like us , who collapsed like bitches with Manny and Kemp being out. With the players that so many people "didn't buy" like Pagan...what a crock. And so what if they did have their best years? Everybody has one...if the Giants and Bochy and their coaches got that out of Pagan, or whoever, all the more power to them. I'd bet that would have gotten more out of Dee than we did. way more. Oh and there doesn't need to be a bad guy, a "villian", like Vinny and others say....bullshit. They are the Giants. That's enough. That's how it works. If Matt likes them, it doesn't surprise me. I still remember Torrealba just dumping him on the ground, easily. Not every big guy is a tough one. Our immediate rivals... traditionally and deep rooted "enemies', are the fucking SF Giants. Not the faggot Cardinals, who shouldn't even be in this. What's next in faggotty Selig and "his" BB? Hittting off a T and special runners for slow guys? We are the also rans of the WC situation, maybe even in BB with our big "blockbuster" guys now; and when these hack announcers talk about us (which they certainly have from time to time), it's all negative and failure type shit- which it is, whether we like it or not. And where did we end up? Jut TWO games behind this Cardinal team. And if it weren't perhaps for a huge baserunner blunder, we might have at least tied them.So how fucking good are they really? If you don't see the Giants as our main problem in the senior circuit, a team who has been there , plain and simple, and has won it, even plainer and simpler, from our own division, and maybe on the verge of going again....then you leave me scratching my head.
might sound hypocritical or contradictory but I liked both of these threads for a different yet similar reason -- a reasons we, as dodger fans, should all share... our hatred for all things san francisco giants tommy obviously isn't all that involved in the daily routine because there is no way in fucken hell he would allow his CF to think -- let alone, say -- anything good or positive about anyone affiliated with the giants kemp just doesn't get it he doesn't get a lot of things, but I digress it's okay to respect what the giants are doing in fact, you really have to coming back from 0-2 against the reds and about to come back from 3-1 against the cards and yeah, they will win tonight we should not only be jealous of the giants, we should be fucken furious! after all, had we had our head out of our asses and won a couple more games, it could easily have been us in the NLCS instead of the cards and that right there would have done a lot for heating up a great rivalry but alas, there is no joy in dudville kemp's dodgers have struck out... again
can you imagine if mark ellis has suddenly gone on a scutaro type run? suddenly mr average utility is all world and i have never in all of my dodger years recalled one of our players openly rooting and cheering on the hated ones. pathetic matt.
Like I said before....we can go out and get Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez type players, but the Giants will always get someone better....they'll find that 138 hitter with 0 HR and 3 RBI that just got cut by a Single A team for the Royals or Astros and transform him into a 350 hitter with 20 HR and 90 RBI. Can we contend with that? No
