I h8 Loney. But I won't pretend Rivera is a significantly better player. I've explained it in as many ways as I can. We don't agree, which is fine.

Loney needs a fresh start and the opportunity to rebuild a MLB career elsewhere.

HaHa...no we won't...because I've just been fuckin with you. I look foward to the day Rivera will platoon L/R in LF with Abreau and we have a 1B. Until then, you can have your way. Rivera blew his chance the last few starts at 1B.

No you weren't. You just saw what Loney can do out there on the field and are backing down. It's all good.

Well he almost caught that Uribe bounced throw. Rivera wouldn't have almost caught it.

I suggest we have a Roman Colloseum fight to the death between Loney and Rivera. With any luck they will kill each other.

Loney starting is NOT working. Now we can't score. We were scoring some when Rivera started at 1B, I don't know how...but we did score some.

It doesn't even matter anymore. There is so much wrong with this team. If the pitching is good and Kemp gets 2-3 hits, we have a chance of winning. Other than that, no way.

Thing is, the pitching is usually good...almost every damn day! Even Hrang keeps the score close usually. Bils is the only pitcher that is coughing up leads on a regular basis.
It's still all on the lack of offense IMO. Every other aspect is better than average to great. Defense, bullpen, starting pitching...ten times better than the offense...mostly in the power department.

I think we need to try some things to get out of this slide.

I think we just cut Loney right now. (And good luck in Japan, James). We bring up Sands for awhile and see how it goes this time around. Sands can play 1B until we get a real 1Bman. If Sands does well at the plate - somehow - then we still get a 1Bman and Sands can play LF where he belongs.

Hairston should be playing 3B on this club until he is dead. Herrera as the utility IF. Oh, the errors - but I hope this situation would be only a temporary fix until we acquire players. The 'H' men really are just utility guys.

If we should get a real 3Bman (And good luck in Korea, Juan) - and Sands really sucks and needs to go away again - I'd try Hairston at 1B until we get a real 1Bman. This way, we would avoid Hairston having to play both 3B and 1B at the same time.

    Just some random ideas...

I hope the FO is just waiting on potential trades to make some moves on the field. I can name 3 guys who should be cut as soon as we know how trades will pan out, and a 4th guy I wouldn't lose any sleep over cutting. Loney, Uribe, Kennedy, and Rivera all need to be replaced.

Dodgers.com put up a recent article about Josh Fields, a 3B hitting .348 / .410 / .516 in juiced up Albuquerque. He could be primed for a move up, just needs a spot on the 40-man. For those who don't remember, Josh Fields was a former ROY Candidate with the ChiSox, and was the reason for us discussing a trade for Joe Crede 5 years ago. He was also a 3B and QB at Oklahoma State before going pro. After a solid rookie season for Chicago in 2007 he flamed out and has bounced around a few teams.

I completely agree. Cut Loney's ass NOW and bring up Sands and let him go at it. Cut Uribe and bring up Herrera and trade them off at 3B.
