Greinke is officially a Free Agent as he has opted out. Really glad that I'll be at a conference in Vail this weekend since I won't have anything like the beginning of free agency to keep me distracted.

Kinda crazy when you think about the direction that the team is headed in and include Greinke's potential departure...the Dodgers maybe having a little Royals' like youth and farm presence in 2016 and Greinke potentially missing out on such a movement yet again. Imagine Greinke on this present day title winning Royals team. I know they wouldn't have some of those guys if it weren't for the Greinke trade tho (Escobar and Cain).

The Los Angeles Dodgers will interview Kirk Gibson for their managerial opening, team sources told ESPN's Jim Bowden.

    Now, how about that. Also...

The Braves appear to be in the process of shifting Hector Olivera from third base to the outfield. We had heard recently that Olivera would spend some time in left in winter ball, though indications were that it was not intended as any kind of permanent move.

    Hernandez to undergo minor surgery
by Anthony Irwin | Dodgers Nation — 35 minutes ago

A haunting trend at the end of last year was the list of players ranging from “sore” to “injured” to “outright hobbled”. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see a few players going under the knife to fix the several ailments incurred during the season.

The latest name on the list: Enriqué Hernandez.

This, via the Los Angeles Dodgers’ official Twitter page:

    Los Angeles Dodgers ✔ @Dodgers
@kikéhndez will undergo minor right shoulder surgery tomorrow in Los Angeles, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
    9:20 PM — 3 Nov 2015

There’s always the saying: “there’s no such thing as minor surgery when you’re being worked on”, but this type of thing is pretty par for the course this time of year. It’s almost impossible to overstate how grueling a 162-game season might be both physically and mentally on players. Once it ends and there is time to reflect on that adversity, how much damage might have actually been done can set in.

For the Dodgers, Hernandez served as a productive utility man, filling in gaps whenever others fell short. His full recovery would give just a little more flexibility to move either Carl Crawford or Andre Ethier and shed salary for other more efficient ways to allocate the Dodgers’ extensive resources.

    Get well soon, Kiké.

Rumor going around that Dave Roberts nailed his interview and at the very least will be our bench coach, and could be the favorite to become our manager.

Jim Bowden on XM today said that according to his sources, the Dodgers are going full in to bring back Greinke, if he does not sign, then they will outbid everyone for Price. They will not be pursuing both it sounds like

The right idea really. Imma go ahead and predict that it's Price for the next 3 years ( opt out) and not Greinke for 5 or 6. Or should I say I'm staying with that prediction.

Well, that sounds pretty good...but I wonder about believing too much of what we all read/hear as Word...if that should happen with Zack...outstanding. I wonder if Zimmerman is conidered anywhere in this either/or scenario?
Like Zack, or if need be, Price...and Zimmerman.
Either way that sounds pretty damn good, to me anyway.
    Guess it's just pipe dreaming...

It's Bowden, so who really knows. All I can say was he was adamant about his sources as were his remarks that the Dodgers will have one of Price or Greinke when all is said and done. I wouldn't be surprised if they pursued Zimmermann as a later option to form a solid 3,4 tandem with Ryu, but seems less likely since they already have 4 pitchers under contract for next season.

Dodgers' Kike Hernandez undergoes right shoulder surgery
49 minutes ago AP - Sports

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Infielder-outfielder Kike Hernandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

The team said the 30-minute procedure done Wednesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles was to clean up Hernandez's shoulder. He will begin physical therapy next week and is expected to be fully recovered before the start of spring training.

Hernandez is the third Dodgers player to have surgery since the season ended last month. When asked about the severity of the procedure Hernandez said "If the surgery is not successful I already have a fall back plan, I'm interviewing for the manager vacancy later this week."

Royals left fielder Alex Gordon has declined his $14MM player option and is now officially a free agent, the team announced today. The 31-year-old Gordon, a client of Excel Sports Management, will now be able to test the open market for the first time in his career.

Reliever J.P. Howell is exercising his 2016 player option with the Dodgers, for $6.25 million.
    ---------------------
Surprising. I guess we can cross a LH Reliever off the shopping list, with Howell returning and Avilan under team control.

I am shocked. This is great news though as the team now has one less player to add to the bullpen.
