It was 60MM light... and to say something to look good after the fact means dick.. its the gnats who were in it to the end.
Contract was differed so present day value was around 190MM. The Dodgers were in it until that stupid offer.
Let's drop Greinke for a second. What I don't understand is Price was FA, Alphabet Soup was a FA, Cueto was a FA. Say what you will about the teams that paid these guys their contracts, but the Red Sox and Gnat FO's cannot be called stupid. They made a calculated effort to get these guys and yes might have paid a little too much, but they have their aces and a rounded out SP. And we're left with biting our nails each day Kershaw is not pitching. I just don't understand that approach. And then you top it off with the inability to get a better BP and 8th inning guy. Timing is everything, and CK and Jansen and Gonzo...they are not getting any younger.
Cueto, Price both 6 year deals. FO very adamant about giving out 6 years for those AAV's. Mr. Alphabet has been mediocre for awhile but he went to a pitching coach who is on par with Honey and arguably better with struggling pitchers. Having said that Honey could have turned him around as well so I can see the argument for him. As for the approach it has always been to develop from within and eventually drop the spend at all cost model. It's a calculated risk obviously and it hasn't paid off YET. Hopefully we can get all the missing guys back with enough time to stay in the race but again a calculated risk. WE have the pitching in the minors (or hope we do) but position player wise we are sadly sadly lacking. The FO BETTER address that real need. Not saying your absolutely wrong but that is how I see it.
yeah but no one can document more than 3 or 4 can they? the dude is moral scum and throws like a girl and we swallowed his ill advised monster contract Boston front office is still laughing maniacally about that trade
We got a Gonzo, we got a NoNo, we got a Punto and a homo! Just goes to show ya though.. At that time De La Rosa was another "It" guy yet Ned traded him anyway and got an impact player/anchor at first who feels like a lifelong Dodger, who's performed, while Rubby ended up being meh. Message to NERDS: Hoarding farm players doesn't always add up to dogshit and they should be hyped and "actually traded" once in a while.
fucking Puig gets hurt right in time for CC to survive fuck Kendrick should be in LF most of the time (if he's even healthy) CC won't survive the season
CC hardly plays anymore as it is, took Kendrick hurting his shoulder the other day to get him in there. Now with SVS back, nah, no need worrying about CC, like you said his time on the roster is coming to an end anyway. But the ginger turd that's sitting the 3 hole everyday, now, that's a problem.
