ABC just reported that he'll get to keep the beard. So he can also keep his "Fear the Beard" moniker.
I don't understand how a player that played 4 years with the Dodgers and 13 years with other teams can be considered the best Dodger 2B of all time? He did have a decent 2005, but most of his "greatness" was done with other teams. Guys like Robinson, Lopes, & Sax came up through the organization and made their mark as Dodger greats. We basically rented Kent at the end of his career. Besides, he was a Giant, he'll always be a Giant...
No matter how you slice it: Wilson should be better than Marmol. Now that League is tucked away during tight games (though DBB has been ballsy as of late), you have to think that if Wilson just returns to 90 percent of what he was, we have our setup guy. Soon it will be: Capuano, Jansen, Belly, Paco, League, Wilson, and Howell.
id be shocked too. I think if they did offer him now he would still hold his grudge from not getting the offer in 2012 and would have told them to fuck off. He was pissed he didnt get an extension offer then.
I didn't say "best Dodger 2B of all time", why is everyone misunderstanding/misquoting me on that? I said the best hitting Dodger 2B. I get your point and agree that Sax, Lopes, Robinson are better Dodger 2B when you look at their careers as Dodgers. Sax only had an OPS of .696, not to impressive with shitty defense. Lopes was great overall, speed, power, defense, fire, etc.(.729 OPS). I don't like to say Robinson(Statistically he is be the best w/ .905 OPS as a 2B) because like other players from those days long past, their stats wouldn't be the same if they played in a game like today where players other than white can play, especially Black and Dominicans, facing 4 man rotations, and bullpens basically made up of broken down starters instead of flame throwing specialists IMO. Nevertheless, Kent only played 4 years as a Dodger. I was speaking in a sense that if you were to build a fantasy Dodger All-Star team, and you wanted the best hitter at 2B, you'd have to look at Kent as the biggest threat in a modern era MLB...the only middle of the order type bat from that position( .847 OPS as a Dodger 2B). So if you disagree or discredit my assumption about the era Jackie played in compared to the more recent times, Jackie is the best hitting Dodger 2B. I cannot deny it based on pure stats.
of course. LAD has to profit off his beard...they'll probably even give him a nudge in dying it blue. and he will because he's a loon.
