I was looking more at lifetime numbers against Greinke, Kershaw, Nolasco and Ryu which are REALLY good. Would love for him to continue that 2013 trend here in the postseason.
When it comes to the playoffs, nothing that happened in the regular season matters anymore. I say this because CK sucks agains the Cards and that needs to change.
I hate the anticipation leading up to these games. I just want the games to start already so whatever happens, happens. Sick of my mind always going through these different scenarios.
Joe Kelly is a good pitcher but Greinke is better. The cards also played in an emotional elimination game there is sometimes a huge let down after that. I say we win the first 2 lose to Whineright and finish it in 5.
Ugh...Caps is probably broken again. I never thought I'd see a day again that anyone would miss Capuano...or Crapuano as so many call him here. Paco has been toast so Marmol is probably the next best replacement we have. Not something I'd ever think I'd say. I hate Marmol and love Paco...but damn!
Good spot Irish...I was going to look that up. But I'd be surprised if Volquez was any better vs. them.
Well yeah, but how many of those numbers are from when they had Pujols and other players back in '05, '06, and '07? Volquez gave up 8 ERs against the Cards this year in 11 IPs.
the Cardinals are atrocious vs. lefties, they crush righties, and Capuano does well vs. lefties.... All of those are in a much larger sample size. We'll get more details later, but I woulda risked Capuano's bad history vs. the Cards to keep a second lefty on the team and only use him as a LOOGY vs. Matt Adams,/Jon Jay and be able to use Howell as more of a 7th inning guy or vs. Beltran/Carpenter But I mean, if Capuano is hurt or something than obviously none of that matter
glad Marmol is getting a shot. Paco is just spent...at least they know his limit now. Volquez is fine with me. Cards are a contact hitting team, much like we are, so soft-tossers wouldn't likely get it done. good call by Donnie, bringing in some guys that can bring heat and miss some bats
We gotta be patient against Kelly. He has a high walk rate and walked 4 against the Pirates in like 5 innings. I'm nervous
