Fuck Tampa and wtf to Seattle.

It is amazing that every year it seems like teams want the fucking world from us while other teams get great pieces for seemingly nothing.

We are going to be just fine, fuck these dicks. I do think we will pick up a relief pitcher or two through waivers.

I just don't like teams help others to land players, especially when aces are involved.

Detroit was too cheap to land price on their own so seattle helped.

I don't want to say Franklin sucks, but he shouldn't be compared to Joc. It wouldn't be hard for me to say Guerrero > Franklin

You're underrating the package that Tampa got meanwhile overrating what the Astros got; Maybe the Rays coulda gotten more but 1) Friedman is one of the best in the game and 2) Smyly is a legit, cheaply controlled starter

Nobody EVER wants to help LA. This applies to all sports, ask David Stern...

    So if Nick Franklin=Joc

Would anyone trade Joc for Jackson?

    Doubtful.

Honestly, we don't have players that are comparable to what Tampa got. Guerrero doesn't equal Nick Franklin because Guerrero has a contract. Smyly is an actual major league pitcher with 4 years of team control left, we don't have anyone like that. And we don't have a middle infield prospect at Willy Adame's level. Jackson goes to Seattle, and we also don't have an Austin Jackson, a major league proven CFer with 3 years of team control left.

I honestly don't see how we beat an offer of 2 young major league players and a top-3 prospect, short of giving up two of Pederson-Seager-Urias-Dee Gordon.

yep, idk how either. I just really doubt they wanted Pederson after seeing how they preferred Nick Franklin to Austin Jackson (if they wanted an OF, why not take a good/controlled one in Jackson?). So, we're talking Seager+Urias+maybe something else? Or, like Ryu + one of Urias/Seager plus something else? I'm just spitballing outta my ass cause maybe the Rays don't think highly of them.

Only other way I see it is if the Mariners thought highly of Pederson and woulda traded Franklin but then we'd still needa trade something better then Smyly+Adams which who knows.

You wouldn't trade Joc for Austin Jackson?

I'm not saying it's equal, exactly. Joc Pederson has a solid chance of being more valuable all things considered then Franklin. My point was, to the Rays, Franklin might have been a better fit with the other things. I think I stupidly made it to simple in what I was saying, but I think what the Rays got is better then we think and our equivalent woulda been crazy and we woulda had to have been creative if we wanted Pederson to be the dude to go cause solid chance the Rays wouldn't want him that much

Adames was their #3 prospect and cant find him in anyone's top prospects list.

You're right though we don't have a middle IF spec at his level Seager is much higher.

I think the Rays coulda gotten a better haul. I just don't know if we had the fit they presumably wanted for Price that woulda been better that isn't an offer we woulda hated.

    Not a chance in hell.

27 year old CF with a career .277 avg, his big offensive upside being doubles?

No thanks we already have his older doppelganger in Crawford.

    Gotta love this one:

RT @MattGelb Amaro said Phillies did not ask for “top prospects.” Criticized other GMs for not being aggressive enough.

Didn't he ask for our big three?

Seager is higher. Seager also projects as a corner IFer. But regardless, Seager shouldn't be part of a deal for Price.

I just feel the Rays wanted more from us than we were willing to give up. Probably two of our top prospects. Management has constantly said they are trying to build up our future. They wanted to fuck us and we didn't let them.

    Now let's move on.

Don't know why everyone's so pissed we didn't make a move. Ned has been more active after the deadline recently anyways, because as much as we talk about Pederson/Seager/Urias, the feature we have that other teams define us by is our money, and the waiver wire centers around contracts, etc.
