You say 27 year old CF with a career .277 avg like it's a bad thing.

Been saying this all day. We are are going to be a non-waiver trade deadline partner for the foreseeable future given our deep pockets. Thanks for validating my opinion, lol.

    Joc > Franklin

Come on guys, we could have easily matched what Tampa recieved, I don't know why they want major league guys right now anyways, they trying to compete next year? Doubtful

I would take Moran and Marisnick all day over what Detroit received, Moran was a Top 5 pick last season! and Marisnick was rated in the Top 100 rankings. Miami got railed for Cosart...

fucken frustrating to watch other teams get better while we sit on our hands
i thought we were the team with all the money, all the prospects
the team that guggenheim promised had a goal of winning the world series every year
i understand not wanting to give up our top prospects, i really do
but the truth is (regardless of how good they're projected to be), they're still just prospects
prospects that have yet to prove anything at the mlb level... and (again, despite projections) maybe never will
is seager the next chipper jones or andy laroche?
is joc the next andrew mccutchen or jerry sands?
is urias the next pedro or rubby de la rosa?
comes a time where you have to give up something to get something
especially if the return is a proven elite mlb starter
wouldn't be as upset had the cards not added two starters
still feel good about our 1-2 of kersh/zack vs. anyone
    after that, not so much

I've said it in all my posts regarding this situation:

It's entirely possible they were asking for way too much than what we were willing to give up.

Doyer made a good point that they don't need Joc with Myers as their CF. Maybe they wanted Urias and Seager, and we already know Seager is an untouchable.

If this deal only needed Joc and some smaller pieces, I get the feeling Price is ours.

Two of our top three prospects though? I can see why we walked away if they were unwilling to renegotiate.

They asked us for Urias and or Seager and than they got this garbage in return in the end? That's what pisses me off

This happens every year though. Teams ask for our highest rated prospects and then settle for other teams giving up nothing big.

    Always happens.

The problem isn't just that we have 3 shiny guys that people want, it's that we don't have much after that. Let's say they asked for Urias/Seager, dodgers obviously said no. What's our counter offer? Take away Pederson since they obviously didn't want an OF.

Zach Lee, Alex Guerrero and Chris reed? That's crap. Erisbel and Ryu? Wouldn't happen and nope. We have high end guys we can't give up but the secondary offers after rejecting giving up these elite guys is shit.

Once we get a deeper farm and/or have a younger team on the field these deals can happen and not be crazy

Drew Smyly is similar to Hyun-jin Ryu minus $27 million guaranteed.

MZA, is very correct and remembers all the years where any trade with the Dodgers began with our top young player and little flexibility. I think it came from a couple of questionable Ned trades. However of late most of the players we traded away have yet to do much. Even Nathan Evoldi has an era in the mid 4 range. Who else other than Carlos Santana have we given up who did much? Santa was not needed in the trade as he was a throw in to save money.

Someone with a better understanding of how the 25 and 40 man rosters work please explain this to me.

So I get that the Dodgers were out of options on Elbert and for that reason DFA'd him. Could they not just keep him on the 40-man for now? Or did the Barney acquisition cause him to be bumped?

Isn't there anyone else on the 40-man that could've gone instead?

Furthermore, why not call him up and DFA Perez? Elbert's numbers in the minors this season aren't that bad, especially his most recent appearances in AAA. Wouldn't it have been at least worth a shot?
