Since we've been giving so much credit to the FO for the Kemp trade, we should also take a look at this trade. Here is a recap of the trade: Dodgers get: Andrew Heaney (flipped for Howie Kendrick) Chris Hatcher Kike Hernandez Austin Barnes Marlins get: Dee Gordon Dan Haren Miguel Rojas $10M Here are the individual stats for the players involved and I'm going to include Kendrick in lieu of Heaney since he is on our team: Dodgers Howie Kendrick - .283/.338/.421/.759 with 13 Doubles, 1 Triple, 6 HRs, 28 RBI and a 0.2 WAR Chris Hatcher - 1-4, 27 G, 18.1 IP, 6.38 ERA, 3.21 FIP, 1.582 WHIP, 7 BB, 19 Ks and a -0.9 WAR Kike Hernandez - .257/.300/.405/.705 with 5 Doubles, 2 HRs, 6 RBI and a 0.3 WAR Austin Barnes - .309/.395/.474/.869 with 8 Doubles, 1 Triple, 5 HRs and 24 RBI (Minor League Stats - AAA) Marlins Dee Gordon - .352/.374/.414/.788 with 13 Doubles, 2 Triples, 17 RBI and 22 SB and a 3.0 WAR Dan Haren - 6-3, 13 GS, 81 IP, 3.22 ERA, 4.46 FIP, 1.00 WHIP, 16 BB, 58 Ks and a 1.5 WAR Miguel Rojas - .285/.328/.398/.726 with 14 Doubles, 1 Triples, 3 HRs and 20 RBI (Minor League Stats - AAA) Overall, I still think that we got out better than the Marlins, but they made out pretty well. They essentially have a solid #3 starter playing for free and a second baseman who is on pace for over 230 hits and 50 SB this season who is team controlled through 2018. Kendrick has been as advertised with less than stellar defense, Hatcher has been a nightmare and Hernandez a solid utility player with a great team attitude. I think the biggest piece we got is Austin Barnes, who will likely take Ellis' place next year and become a great backup C for us.
Ohh, it'll be interesting to view this trade had we kept Heaney and played Turner and Guerrero at 2B. I still think he has a very bright future being 23 years old, even though thus far this year he hasn't been that great.
I miss Dee, but we've already come out of this one smelling of roses IMO. The Barnes potential, and the super utility man with an okay stick Kike tips the scales.
Imagine having Dee on base before our thumpers and the havoc he could cause on the basepaths. Still a good trade imo.
Deal was great. Howie is better than Dee idgaf and Kike, Barnes make it that much sweeter. Hatcher has been meh but hopefully he turns it around or else he's a candidate to be DFA'd (unless he has options?).
he's out of options, I believe, which is why he's going nowhere anytime soon. probably also why he's on the DL. trade was great.
imagining Dee on the bases was basically our only option after we made it through July of last season.
Idgaf, awesome. Solid reasoning in thinking Howie is better than Dee this year. For a poster who emphasizes sabermatrics and laughs when people discuss intangibles, this is the irony of all.
The guy threatened to fight the whole board and still tries to start fights... this thread is a good example. No respect for that.
