Sure, but are they gonna trade him at a low? Doubt it.
I'll bite on the Russell thing, because Baez could move to SS, and Zobrist to 2B.

Here's my take: Any potential trade partner is going to expect an excess of prospects from the Dodgers for a starting pitcher, both because we have them, and because they're going to assume some desperation with the Kershaw news. I hope cool heads prevail in our F.O. and they pass, provided they don't find a great deal. Here's why: We have a 10.5 game lead in the division. Sure, Kershaw played a key role in getting that lead, but so did the other starters, the bullpen, and very much so, the offense. I just can't see that lead disappearing because of the absence of one player. The offense should still score runs. Wood and Hill should still pitch very effectively and the rest of the starters will have mixed results, but they'll produce some wins too. If this was 2.5 game lead, I'd feel differently, but this lead can withstand 4-6 weeks without Kershaw. Look for some lesser deals to shore up the weak links in the pen, but not at the expense of the core of farm system.

Don't disagree with all that you are saying, but I think at least some, if not all of the concern, is not the regular season, but the overall effectiveness of the SP going into the playoffs.

This team seems poised to reach greatness, and an extra dominant SP can't hurt our chances of achieving that. We also don't know how effective CK will be out of his DL stint. I'm optimistic but having another SP ace would be good insurance.

When Kershaw was injured last year, #Dodgers trailed in division by 8 games. He returned 9/9 & Dodgers lead by 4 games. 38-24 w/o him.

    same here
don't think the front off should (nor do i believe they will) panic because of kersh's injury
would love to get darvish or (to a lesser degree) verlander
but not if it costs us buehler or verdugo

True...numerically, Kersh is "only" 1/5 of this great run, and that is all that he can be, actually. Unless he was used as a PH and raked a lot.
However, idk if the CK injury's mental aspect is a considerable blow or not.
Has to have an initial effect, but as true millionaire professionals are want to do, they will soldier on.

Is selling Schwarber off for Gray a low, though?
Getting a controlled Gray that'd fit in behind Lester and Quintana moving forward doesn't seem to be that, especially with Arrieta and Lackey going into FA
Either way, they've got some young pieces to peddle, it's just at the MLB level already

Agree completely. There are no assurance the post-injury Kershaw will be the same as the pre-injury version.

Hopefully that's enough this time around
We've seen them get to the final 10 games or so with home field on the line and lay down like dogs before

Sucks that Kershaw went down.......bad timing for trades cuz any team MGT talks with this is going to try to use that as leverage against. Still if Darvish is on the table, I say we use our strong minors to get him. MGT can out bid anyone, so why not use those prospects to get Darvish, keep or strengthen our lead, then give Kershaw adequate time to recover so that when the post season comes around they are 100% and very stacked in Kershaw/Darvish/Hill/Wood. If MGT says no to dealing Alvarez or Behuler, I just don't see the Rangers motivated to trade for a package centered around Calhoun.....unless they offer major league talent. IMO i would send Alvarez and Calhoun.

Of course, one other factor is the break that the BP gets every 5th day. In that regard maybe Kersh gets slightly more than 1/5 credit.

    from buster olney...
Even with Clayton Kershaw headed to the disabled list, no team is in a better place leading up to the deadline than the Dodgers, because they don’t really need anything. They have had a dominant rotation, a great bullpen, a deep lineup that has been piling up runs, and an enormous lead in the NL West. The Dodgers can pick through bullpen options pressure-free, whether it be Britton, Wilson or Hand. Depending on what they hear from their doctors about Kershaw's back and right hip, they could engage in a chat about rotation help like Verlander, if the Tigers’ grow desperate to move the former MVP’s contract (and deliver the pitcher to a place for which he might waive his no-trade clause). They could delve into talks with the Athletics about Gray -- and keep in mind that Oakland executive Billy Beane and the Dodgers' Andrew Friedman have a history of deal-making over the last decade. One way or the other, the Dodgers probably add a bullpen piece, like Reed. But with a great major-league team, a deep farm system, a big lead, they don’t have to do anything.

Apparently the Rangers are leaning towards keeping Darvish since they're only 2.5 games out of the WC. Sucks.

No olives there. It was a few short words. You reading into things again. Maybe you prefer mushroom spores if you don't like olive branches.

Btw can't wait till we go get a Darvish to pick up slack while Kersh rests.
Also will probably need to bring up walker and verdugo sooner rather than later.
And have Kershaw come back for the big run with a month plus of good rest on that arm and back.
All good things for a dodgers fan who is looking to the future. The future this october and November

Sure Rube, it's clear as a bell why you would be smiling ear to ear about Kershaw going down...yeah, it's all good.
