Maeda is almost surely going to lose us this. Our only hope is that Kershaw pushes a Hill game 7 and he handles pitching in Chicago.

Close play at the plate, he was probably safe but the moron called him out so they kept it as an out

Maeda has to eventually have one good game. He wasn't helped out by his defense last time and Lester got ALL the breaks from his defense. We can flip that around this time

I don't even know if this shows up, but I will say that imo, Dave shit the bed last night. Very questionable moves and the previous excellence of the BP showing real problems.
And it was bound to happen, nothing exposes weaknesses like the playoffs do, and our patchwork, unsteady, and band-aid starting staff's gaping holes came crashing down on our heads past night.
The weak and wounded staff assembled over the past season eventually has ignited the Cubs very capable bats, and given them the impetus and good fortune of going back home for sure.
It's shaping up to a nasty situation for us, no matter when Kershaw starts.
Maeda has been weak for quite a while, so a win tonight is very unclear.
Lester is ready and rested, and our lineup, once again, in hibernation.

But what do we do the two games in between now and the seventh game.

Dave's dealing with the cards he's been dealt like he has all year.

The starting pitching puts the entire staff into a state of flux nightly and it's up to Roberts to makes some tough choices, which he's done successfully so far.

Its' been like this year and isn't going to change the rest of the year.

    Maeda's tank is on E.

Just hoping he can give them five decent innings and the offense put some good swings on Lester again and hopefully find some gaps.

Feel like today is must win simply because I cannot handle a Kershaw game 6 meltdown in Wrigley. Please, Kenta

Are you still having trouble? As far as I know, nothing changed.

There was an extremely close play at the plate. Gonzalez shouldn't have been sent home, but as others stated there were 2 outs and the pitcher due up so it was worth the gamble. The play was close, he was called out, the Dodgers challenged. He looked safe on the replay, but the replay official determined it too close to tell, so the original call stood.

I heard that NY knows the call beforehand and the reason they don't change calls that close is because they don't want to show up the ump.

Makes sense. They also want to discourage challenges as much as possible. Challenges hurt game flow, and should really only be used for blatant miscalls.

The more I look at it, the closer the Adrian Gonzalez play is (last night I thought he was safe for sure). Frame by frame it looks like a tie. Tie goes to the runner? Or is that an antiquated, pre-replay philosophy? Now the saying is "get the call right"?

The old-school way of looking at that play, before replay, is whether or not the ball beat the runner. I know we hate Angel Hernandez, but I think he made the call he had to at full speed. The ball beat the runner. With replay we can dissect the precise moment the tag was made, but in 1965 before replay and slow-motion video, I think that's an easy out.

The scary thing is the Oregon Trail simulation clearly predicted the Dodgers getting blown out when Urias and Roberts both drowned 30 seconds into the game at the Kansas River crossing. I had no business continuing at that point. I'd try it again for today's game, but it seems the Oregon Trail prediction power is far too powerful for mere men to possess. We should forget what we saw here, and never speak of it again.

    LOL.... Great SNL type moment...

Vin is retired and just sitting in a regular seat, trying to enjoy a ballgame on his own. He's doing his best to ignore the snotty little shit, millennial kid who keeps asking him what's going on until he finally turns, looks him straight in the face and says, "Son... FUCK OFF!!!"

Well that was ugly as fuck!!!!! Didn't really watch the 1st 2 games here because I want it too bad and couldn't take the stress, of course had it on the DVR. Watched most of it yesterday during my bowling league and had a beer so maybe I'll drink and watch it tonight. Then again when I watched the entire game they lost so I will make the ultimate sacrifice and just avoid the game.
