2013 rotation = possible disaster

right now its sad to say we have 6 pitchers signed for next year, as you can only say that 1 of them is a reliable option

CK = Ace. Period. Nothing else to say
Bills = currently injured, could required TJ. Still, at times he looks dominant, at times sucks more dick than IBB in a Giants game
Beckett = jury still out on him. Could turn into a solid #2, but I dont expect him to be more than an average #3

and now it turns ugly:

Herman Monster (aka Harang): the guy cant pitch past the 6th inning... for some reason he always allows just enough runs to get the team screwed. You cant say that he's ever hit that hard, but he's always hittable
Capuano = great first half, mediocre second half
Lilly = YES, still one more year to go and we dont even know if he comes back. He's the wild card of the group as he can be a solid #3, but right now, we dont even have an average #2

so lets take a look at the FA market. Some players that are not going to be available because of team options that will be picked (James Shields, Dickey) and the ones that are absolute crap and not an option (Moyer)

From that group (of the ones that will be available) only a few names are worth considering: Haren (not sure if his option will be picked), Jackson, Kuroda, Peavy and Anibal Sanchez. Only Peavy and Haren can be a #2 pitcher, Kuroda a good #3 and the others nothing more than a #4.

From that group, who would you like to see pitching for us next year?

Yes it is worth it... Its always worth talking about the future...

 

Doesn't matter if our green mile still are playing like a bunch of pole smokers.

 

1) We don't know Billingsley's status
2) We don't know Lilly's status
3) We don't know how much money the ownership wants to spend. They could be maxed out, or they could sign Greinke and Haren.

Seems way too premature to call anything a "possible disaster"

 

I don't want Haren...he seems to be cooked.

 

My choices would be:

Edwin Jackson
HiKu
Joe Saunders
Anibal Sanchez

And I do not in anyway think that our rotation is fucked for next year. We have 5 proven guys with CK, Harang, Beckett, Cap and Bills already there. There are probably 10-15 teams who'd kill for that. Not to mention that we can make trades or sign any of the above. Definitely NOT a concern for me.

 

Edwin Jackson is so inconsistent. If ownership is still in wow mode, get Grienke and Kuroda. If they're not, get Kuroda and pray that Bills is healthy for next year.

 

I feel like this choke job month is gonna shy them away from breaking the bank again. We will see.
