Barnes is still running a pretty small sample size. Shame we have that dud manning second base, then maybe we can get a better gauge on his stick.

    HERE WE GO:
Morosi is reporting that the Dodgers are increasingly confident that they will acquire one of Gray, Darvish or Verlander by the Monday deadline.
This is also coming on the heels of Yadier Alvarez being scratched from tomorrow's start. My guess is that if that is the return, it is going to be for Gray. Hard to see them willingly give up a prospect like that for a rental unless the Tigers were taking back something like Kazmir and a fuckton of salary or Kazmir and giving us Wilson.

    Update:
More from Morosi, "Sources: #Dodgers recent trade dialogue has been heavier on Yu Darvish and Sonny Gray than Justin Verlander."

    Update #2:
Chris Camello: "Sources: #Dodgers are in the mix on Sonny Gray. Appears to be preliminary at the moment, but some movement on the trade talk meter"

OK...I defer to your less harsh critique. You're right.
And, a lot get through him that are charged to the pitcher as WP, too.
I don't think he's going anywhere soon though. Neither of them.

Okay those Morosi tweets are the boldest words yet. I'm still doubtful they land a starter. I really do think they need a lefty reliever though...

I know they'll do something though cause they're always super active at the deadline

    Or Trayce.

    Maybe Alvarez + Trayce?

Camello just added that Verlander appears unlikely as Tigers are unwilling to take on sizable portion of his contract.

Yusniel Diaz can also play CF. I wonder if an offer is Alvarez, Calhoun and Diaz

Don't use Trayce and "good" in the same sentence

Looking at it again, that's not a very strong package. But Trayce would give them a potential CF next season, even if he's not that good. It would probably take some more top prospects given the years of control for Gray. Toles?

    Alvarez + Calhoun + Farmer + Trayce ?

Honestly, Verdugo is a fair price for Gray. I don't think giving up Verdugo in that deal is overpaying, I just don't like it because Verdugo fills an immediate need for this team.

    Is Diaz major league ready?

Honestly I think Alvarez/Calhoun/Farmer is enough. Trayce is not going anywhere. He was decent last year but has not been healthy enough to produce this year so I think he is off the table. Plus he did flash some power in 2016 13hr in 80 games. Add in he is only 26, and there might be something there in the next few years. I think Verdugo and Behuler are off limits. I would love to think that a deal of Calhoun/White/Stewart or May would get the deal done but I doubt we get that lucky.

Edit......looks like Will Smith has moved up in the dodger rankings according to BA. So ALvarez/Calhoun/Smith.

He's in A ball so no but he (Diaz) ranked #6 on our mlb.com page spec list. With all due respect to young Alex he's only proven that he's too good for AAA and nothing in the majors. Immediate need? IF Joc is traded then he'll be a consideration but when A-Gon comes back CT would be the CF'er and Bellinger our left fielder.

I was going on CKWG's post that said the A's are interested in a major league ready CFer. Trayce could be a piece that interests them.

I agree with the first part, that's why I said trading Verdugo isn't an overpay for Gray.

Immediate need I am thinking 2018-19. The team isn't deep in the OF, it's not hard to picture Verdugo playing in the OF next season.

No Verdugo tonight for OKC. Verdugo to Oak for Gray and Alvarez to Tx for Darvish. Heard it here first!
