He's not getting traded now unless the offer is insane. We need him with Crawford and Kemp being on the DL every other week.
Its a blue plague... both Kemp and Ethier have had limp ass swings all season Kemp had surgery so OK Ethier? Sand in his mangina? How do you forget so much year over year? Aren't they supposed to be learning as vets by now? Clueless
Over the last 3 months, he's hitting 1 bomb per month. That's pretty pathetic for a guy that is paid what he's paid and we all know he wasn't paid to hit 1 HR per month. His defense in all 3 spots has been a pleasant surprise. He's hitting for a good average lately and that's coolio. I do not want him traded. he is the best 4th OF option we have, he's also one of the most overpaid ones in baseball. He's not as ridiculous as Vernon Wells, and since the Dodgers don't have a money problem, just keep him. Lord knows we need more than 3 OFers.
Except none of those prospects had the skill set that Joc has. Those "prospects" we're mostly fan driven if you know what I mean
Ethier IS going to be fine and he'll come around a bit but Joc still has solid prospects for the MLB. But too many K's at AA to be allowed in the 25 man line up anytime soon. Crawford is fractured glass Kemp has a rebuilt wing Ethier lost his groove... again Puig can do all but is also learning trial by fire and suffering too many K's as big league pitchers teach him what's what. While Puig will be fine... and Ethier will get it back to .280 and Kemp will suck... until he heals... and Crawford will never again play 3 consecutive games... we're gonna need Joc up here sooner or later... its a long season...
The ninth-inning home run was Ethier's seventh go-ahead home run in the ninth inning or later in the last five seasons, tied for most in that span with Matt Kemp, Adam Jones, Chris Young and Jay Bruce, according to ESPN Stats and Info. http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/dodger-report/post/_/id/6313/the-roll-remains-unbroken
I don't disagree, look at his splits, he is hitting around .200 against LHP. Now, will he be as bad as though guys, no, but he is probably a good platoon player, like Ethier but with less power.
His greatest asset this year has been the ability to play more than 2 games without blowing up a hamstring unlike our other 2 made of glass guys. It doesn't hide the fact that he has been fucking brutal this year, not just power but across the board, offensively. Isn't even getting enough doubles to get that OBP up and the walks need to come as well. I love the guy and defend him but theres no way I could possibly say his offense has been anything it needs to be. With that said, a quick streak hopefully happens, and if it does, it's kinda sad to me that he'd be more valuable than Kemp 3 out of the past 4 years. Obviously Kemps upside and what he can be when healthy shatters Ethiers inferior defense/offense, but yeah. (Okay sorry, now this is turning into a Kemp thing...) Anyways, Ethier needs to turn it around big time. Just being healthy with a 700+ OPS aint gonna cut it. People had every right to say we shoulda traded him but (not trying to toot myself) I always said we should keep him not cause I think he is amazing but because the seriousness of Kemps injury was a bit understated as well as the injury risk of Puigs insanity and Crawfords fragile body. Glad we kept him cause, ugh, as bad as he's been... it coulda been worse (scary thought)
Ethier needs to turn it around. K-emp needs to become a baseball player again and stop being a vagina. Both guys were hurt last season. K-emp gets a free pass all season as he is "recovering". I guess Ethier doesn't get a "recovering" pass because he's really been "playing hurt all season" or "needs to find his swing". Well that's the excuses given to the other guy. I hate the double standard.
What? Ethier was out like 15 games last year and Kemp had 2 major injuries that knocked him out of 50+. So no, Ethier doesn't get a recovering pass and no you're not going to convince me with your stupid meme. Whatever it is your selling I'm not buying it.
Just so I know for sure...assuming we have to keep one and get ride of the other...I need to know if you are serious. You'd rather keep Ethier than Kemp over the long term?
