i just sat through how many years of Crapuano? i can sit through 2 yrs of Arroyo easily. for somebody who pitched at a launching pad in Cincy, he battled.

pitching @ Dodger Stadium, his success against the NL west ( Giants mainly), being an innings eater who's never missed a start in his career, having some post season experience, AND Honeycutt gets to tinker with him too?...sign me up. he's more reliable than Beckett and Billingsley right now i tell you that. shit, somebody has to bridge us to either the youngsters or David Price.

Lee couple probably make some starts in the bigs this year. Heard Coletti say something about him not pitching at triple A though. Usually they don't let out pitchers waste their time in that ballpark in ALBQ.

Honestly after all the depth we had last season and still needed pitching if we can lock him up for a short deal ,im fine with it. No draft pick comp needed to do this deal and for a 5th starter he would be solid. I dont think Zack Lee is ready for the show and Becket will likely be hurt with Billz coming in late with no guarantee of being able to pitch. I wanna win and this would give us a better chance of doing that than without him.

Remember last season when crappy, fife, whoever took the ball every fifth day? It was pretty much guaranteed to be no more than a 5 inning outting and the Bully would have to step up and finish it out.The more I type the better this sounds to me.

Maybe I don't know shit from Shinola but his ERA is easily a half run less at Dodger Stadium.

Arroyo pitched in a crackerjack box and Haren...well, he sucked.

i don't mind arroyo per se, it's the thought of haren/arroyo on back-to-back nights that makes me a bit :nervous:

Oh, well if that's all that bothers you, split'em up by putting Beckett between them.

i wanna give Honeycutt the benefit of the doubt. i'm sure they evaluated Haren and figured Honeycutt could work with him and get him goin in the right direction. Haren did pitch well in the 2nd half of last year...i'm holdin on to that for dear life. lol

btw, i heard something about Beckett throwing the ball pretty well right now...maybe the surgery helped...

Urias is a ways away, but Stripling/Lee could get their debuts this year. I'd guess they do, especially with Beckett/Haren slotted into the rotation. Josh Beckett making it the entire year healthy would be extremely surprising

I think it's a case of Spring Training Syndrome. Did you hear he's in the best shape of his life? His troubles are behind him? He can't wait for the season to start?

lol na, they were actually discussing Bard because Bard had the same surgery that Beckett had and Bard is back in the majors with Texas. well, he got a minor league deal that is. but they just kinda threw in that Bard was a part of that chicken/beer Red Sox team that collapsed and how Beckett had the same surgery and was reportedly throwing the ball really well right now. we'll see.

    • Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets that Arroyo's camp has lowered the asking price to the two-year, $22MM range, and the Orioles and Diamondbacks are "definitely pushing" for the veteran righty.
    perfect solution
    1-year $14MM with a $10MM performance option
if he does well he makes more over the two years he's seeking
if he doesn't he still makes more for the one year

wait so if he does well he would potentially make 24 million for one year as a #4 starter? no thanks.

Edit: Nevermind I re-read your post and it clearly indicates the 10 mil would be for year 2.
