I really feel for the guy. But that was an ugly play he did it on, should have caught it and not got injured. Really is his own fault.

I wouldn't call that hustle. Hustle is diving or sliding a few meters in front of the ball. Who knows what the fuck he was trying to do.

As an uncoordinated person I can tell he clearly had 3+ ideas in his head of what to do, and his brain shutdown and did none of them.

He's the antithesis of smooth in the field, but it's wrong to question his effort on the play.

A mortal sin? A grievous offense against the Laws of God?
I wonder if one of the things he was thinking ( as BM suggested) was, " there no way this guy is going nine innings for a no hitter, so considering that it definitely won't be an official no no, should I really endanger myself"?
    Ya think?

I think when you are in the moment, in a no no, you just try harder

    and sometimes you fuck up

Toles is at peace being human

    fans will have to deal

obviously tough to comeback from but in his case that play might be life defining in terms of his earning potential
not sure what kind of contract he was signed to but i have to imagine he was close to a nice payday

Poor Toles, I've been rooting so hard for this kid. Hopefully he can come back stronger than ever...

I just looked it up, he will continue to accrue service time while on the DL, so this shouldn't really affect how long until he qualifies for arbitration (his first nice payday) and then free agency (an even nicer payday). The bigger concern is how much the injury takes away from his ability to perform at a high level. But provided he comes back strong, the injury might not be all that bad for him financially.
