Yeah, I'm sorry to see the kid go..he has a world of talent, and simply a great arm. I think he will be a top tier pitcher in his career, eventually.
But dealing wih the now, Ramirez should be a huge piece to the Ned Swiss cheese IF he has previously created. Eo, as good as he is, number wise, just hasn't been the winner we needed him to be...definitely not all his fault. He reminded me of another LAD pitcher with great numbers statistically, but really never won for us that much, Kuroda. Some guys just don't have the luck with a team. Now with the Bombers, he cruises a lot in games.
Ramirez is a hopeful thing, and get this mofo in the lineup tonight, bigger than shit, to help us get right back to winning. We can't afford a slide right now, as a bad rest of the Cardinal series and a bad weekend with the scums could bury us.
What becomes of Uribe, then? Or is a better question, Dee Gordon?

Oh yeah, forgot...the LH RP thing is another of the Swiss cheese BP that Ned created solved, I would say. Tolleson goes down I guess, or Beli on the DL for some injury we are not aware of...something is up with the totally different movement on the ball. Seems more than just "tired".
    Anyway, cool on Choate.
    No info on the PTBNL?

great deal! the key here is that we are taking his full salary, but if he produces close to 2010 shape, $15M a year is nothing... This also means the end of Uribe (hopefully) and less lineup shuffle... I would bet him 5th protecting Ethier... or maybe leadoff Ellis and bat Hanley 2nd... SO MANY OPTIONS NOW!!!

    tbh, a lot

9:36am: The Dodgers announced the trade. "The addition of a hitter the caliber of Hanley Ramirez improves our lineup from top to bottom, inserting a proven run producer to go along with Matt and Andre," GM Ned Colletti said. "We're excited for Hanley to begin a new chapter in Los Angeles."

MLBTR bits. This info already posted, but it's nice to see in one place:

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly will determine whether to play Ramirez at shortstop or third base, Rosenthal reports (on Twitter). Ramirez has volunteered to play either position, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports (on Twitter). He's likely to play shortstop until Dee Gordon returns from the disabled list, then move to third base.

Choate, 36, has a 2.49 ERA with 9.6 K/9, 3.2 BB/9 and a 60.3% ground ball rate in 25 1/3 innings with the Marlins this year. The lefty specialist earns $1.5MM in the final season of a two-year, $2.5MM contract and will hit free agency after the season. The Dodgers had been looking for a left-handed reliever.

The fact that Hanley is open to playing either SS or 3B I think shows he is elated to be out of miami, and for a pure hitter like him, being happy and relaxed is very important.
