Honestly after Grandal got hurt and AGon and Joc were already slumping badly I was really nervous. More perfect storm of bullshit happening
I kept waiting for the team to click as a whole, but they finally did all sync up, they synced up to equally hit like shit and get hurt.
I'm actually fine with keeping Mattingly too. Going after Maddon last offseason seemed like the obvious move, but we passed. im not up for firing Mattingly just to fire him - there needs to be a a good replacement plan in place.
That Kiké DP was awful
KIKÉ kinda can't hit RHP. Or at least didn't this year, especially RHP sliders. So that's an issue for him being a regular going forward.
I called for a safety squeeze
Man we had so many chances in the first 5 innings. Unbelievably frustrating.
Can the WS just be over already? I don't want to see anything else from this season. Ready to move on already. The next few weeks of the playoffs will feel like life is on hold.
Is it wrong to root against the Cubs?
It's like if you don't do anything with your life but you always have this cousin, Josh, who is a HUGE fuckup - so at least you're not the loser in the family. But then one day Josh wins the Lottery. On one hand you're happy for him, but deep down you're mad because now you're the loser in the family.
My boss is a Cubs fan and she's a cool lady.
I'm rooting for the Cubs or Mets to go all the way.
Lotta people saying goodbye to Donnie here...we'll see about that.
And deserves to be...failures abound on this team, and it comes from the top down.
This " fucking "players manager" shit is nothing but weak and inept...it doesn't get the job done.
Like allowing a pitcher to choose his catcher...a guy who has batted .053 since returning from the DL. What happened to the guy whom"gives us the best chance today"?
Like arguing in the dugout publically in a winner takes all game. Whatever it was over.
Like using the shift to cut down on the odds on a pull hitter getting one through...but not doing shit to ensure everyone is informed what to do to eliminate the vulnerability of using it. As soon as the walk occurred, he should immediately be screaming for Seager to get over and cover third base- that's his fucking job.
It goes on and on, and will always be so.
But you think after the highest payroll in BB history, this genius FO would at least give someone else a shot.
CK exorcised his personal playoff demons...JT emerged as an offensive force and became a gamer, and Don
Mattingly continued along in his role as an also ran each year he's managed the team.
Everyone, or most, are writing " so long Donnie" and such, like it's a lock or something.
one must include Turner in that phrasing since he certainly performed above his pay grade... but your point remains
hmmm... seems Mousey's got himself some internal issues roiling over..
Agree. I mentioned Turner in another post. He's actually the person who over performed the most since the expectations for Greinke and Kershaw were high to begin with. There were a few others close to expectations: Kenley, Adrian, and I suppose Anderson. It's hard to go far fighting an uphill battle like that, and still our season will look pretty good on paper years from now.
So true so true so true.
I blame a significant portion of our loss last night on the bullshit overuse of the hyper shifted defense. It's not even a partially shifted D. If that is what the nerds think will win then fine, somebody needs to teach the nerd sound fundamental baseball because there is a reason teams have a 3B. Way past stupid.
This run produced by a sacrifice fly following a stolen 'gift' base following a walk is about as dumb as it gets. Every Dodger infielder had his head up his ass.
That decisive run can be attributed SOLELY to Nerdco fanciness and Donnie's absolute inability to manage in a game. That free base shit would NEVER have happened under Lasorda. Never. They should all be ashamed.
I saw that play and I knew that we were going to create a way to lose the game.
And it got worse with every passing AB where we flaailed after getting someone on base. 11 at bats with stranded runners in scoring position. 11 times we could have done ANYTHING.
And moron Donnie ends it with Rollins? Really? Donnie thought he was what gave us the best chance to win? Man oh man what mud is between his ears
Not surprised. I turned it off after they scored in the first inning and knew we'd lose. The team has no fire or passion.
Can someone please explain why Ethier got so mad? Again, I stopped watching early on and am very curious as to what happened. Thanks in advance.
