Keep insisting that a routine fly ball to Figgins was an unbelievable play? Andre hit the ball very hard on the last play? It took like 7 hops. Complete blithering idiot. Beside myself listening to this guy.
I think he's great compared to listening to Steiner on the radio. I rely more on the sound of the crowd tto know what's going on than what he says...considering he seems to announce the play by play on a 5-10 second time delay. I really can't stand the Fox team of Mccarver and Buck. Mccarver makes me absolutely sick. I'll take Collins over him any day. At least Collins doesn't pretend to know the game, that's Lyons job.So Collins actually don't know shit.
Agreed, and I can't believe I agree. Steiner's MAIN PROBLEM is he is misleading. Which is a killer on the radio. Because we are trusting him to paint a picture. He's the worst at that and I blast him all the time. BUT, on television, I can handle Steiner. Steiner isn't clinically retarded like Collins. Collins knows nothing of baseball, AND sucks from a broadcasting standpoint. Horrible personality. Steiner doesn't have personality problems, but should never be on radio. TV or nothing.
Just posted my agreement w/ you but now it looks like we are not on the same page. Steiner is horrible on the radio. He is way too misleading.
The only man who could fill Vin's shoes is AJ Ellis. Wire him up and let him commentate games simultaneously whilst playing.
coming back down to earth with the bat? last 7 days he's hitting .214, but has a .389 OBP also 9th most valuable defensive catcher according to this http://blogs.thescore.com/mlb/2012/...re-catcher-defense-ratings-june-2012-edition/ leads all catchers, as of yesterday, in caught stealing runs
He's not going to hit above .300 this season. Which is fine. Nobody said he was bad but he's inching towards the player he is. High on base, decent hitter, and my god is his glove disappointing.
BA isn't close to an end all be all but when you looked at A.J's stats and saw .320+ with some dingers and on base virtually every game...you had to be saying, "WOW". Taking things at face value isn't a bad thing once in a while! He's still going to get on base, especially hitting 8th, his average will be respectable, yada, yada. That's what I thought of him before the season and I think that's what we will see moving forward. He's got a lot more pop than I thought though. He gets a lot of days off it seems so I don't understand the laziness behind the dish. Blocking pitches is not an easy thing to do but a lot of those "wild pitches" should be passed balls for a ML catcher.
Collins is fucken terrible; one of the worst I've ever heard, seriously Steiner isn't great, but at least he knows the game When Coillins says shit like "good strike" and "good take" it shows he knows nothing about the game -- I mean, who says shit like that?
Great way to put it. Unfortunately, I get the feeling he will be here for a long time. While I still have the template up...
Steiner gets flustered as the play is occuring. You have to actually wait until the play is well over for him to go back and tell you what just happened. The rest of the time he blathers and babbles. Then he and Monday start in on their late inning witticisms, and eventually they will get the giggles - all about stuff that might have been hilarious back in the 1950's. But I'd take this pair of bozos over Eric Collins any day. Got to have a personality to call a baseball game.
