You don't go into a slide with your knees up on a guy who's not gonna turn it. A take out slide is when you slide away from the bag to make the fielder go way out of the way or jump. It's not going straight into the bag, really late, with your knee up PAST the bag. Why is this DBacks team play like a bunch of fucking idiots? Maybe I'm just mad that they swept us, but Gibsons style of playing isn't even cool hard nosed, old school baseball. It's "Let's go out and injure everybody and be mad when a curveball hits us"

I actually think there might be some truth to this. He looked awkward, like he got to the base and then thought "oh, shit! I'm supposed to slide to break up the DP" Regardless, he deserves to be beaned. If he's lucky, Victorino will talk to our staff so we throw at his ribs, not at his head.
The "late" BS on that slide was IMO, exactly what almost got Ellis' leg amputated. It's not clean...it's cheap shot shit. Gibson sucks and thinks he is the toughest Mofo in BB, still. You can play hard without being a cheap shot scumbag. With guys like Mark Grace , Joe Garagiola, and , sad to say, Vin Scully, relentlessly perpetrating that myth, he beleves it, full well. And that's what he demands out of his team. But he's not playing ball any more. he can afford the hardass attitude. He can call CK a motherfucker. He doesn't get ABs. They say it doesn't matter what you've done to a team...it's all forgotten when and if you ever get traded to them. BUT: If a guy ruins my career, or causes me to lose a limb or something, because of a cheap shot in the past...I'm slamming him in the face with a fucking brick a few times if I'm at all capable. Or paying someone to do it for me if I'm not. I guess it's easy to be so forgiving when you're all damn millionaires...maybe that's it.
