Jansen needs a gut check, Perez should close, Wilson should've gotten an inning and league should be DFA'd.

He'll leave league in frisco, make him find his own way home.

Just once I'd like to see roster and lineup decisions made without regards to salary level.

The Dodgers just handed this game away. Plain and simple. Figured it'd be some random guy to get the game winning hit. Ethier is really killing me. Dude needs to get his shit together. It's his own fault that Dodger fans have turned on him over the years. Brandon League fucking sucks. Where the hell was Wilson?

I missed the last two batters, so can someone fill me in to why we didn't turn a double play when Hicks hit a groundball with Crawford on first?

Uribe fluffed it, Hanley picked it up and fired to first.

It was Brandon's game to lose.

•_• The one time Uribe doesn't make the play cleanly, it's when League is pitching.

Greatest Mattingly quote of all time.

I'm guessing Wilson didn't pitch because he had already warmed up twice, and just coming off the DL, might have been a little excessive if he had gone and pitched.

Basically the offense had plenty of chances to stack on insurance runs, and failed. Ethier, Puig, Kemp, Uribe, our shit-hitting catcher, all came and went without getting the result.

And possibly even more than all the give away we played , is the fact that we can't beat these guys. If it's not a total collapse of "the powerful Dodgers" (as recently as the past weekend) lineup at AZ, it's bums like League who just don't get it done any more. We have to live with this aquistion for how much longer, and carrying a catcher who isn't batting .100 as our number 1, is just wrong. It's a long time before AJ will be back, and let's face it, he's not Johnny Bench anyway. At least he got the bunt down, that's something...but it's like having a 7 man lineup out there with our catchers.
And I can't figure out how Jansen went from lights out closer, to mediocrity so quickly, so far anyway.
Against piss poor pitching like AZ, we are "powerful" I guess...but against a well managed, good BP team like the SFags, we fold, big time. I hope (if we are going to win this thing this year), we don't have to go through the Giants. But there's a good chance we will.
Just a disheartening loss, but I think nothing at least many of us expected. And after all that tight-rope walking by Beckett, who just can't last.
Maybe we can straighten it all out with them by the advent of Aug/Sept this season, because IMO, they will be around all year.

Jansen's BABIP is .556 meaning he's getting extremely, extremely unlucky. He'll be fine.

    • The Giants send Ryan Vogelsong to the mound, who could use a win, but at the very least improvement. The Giants right-hander owns no record and an 8.00 ERA in two starts entering his outing Wednesday night against the Dodgers.
and with malhömÖ on the bump for us, this could very easily be an 8-8 game after three innings...

Last night's game could have easily been 8-8 after three innings, and probably should have been.

    Maholm ERA 8.10
    Vogelsong ERA 8.00

    Should be an interesting one.

I have resigned myself that I must respect all these anagrams that represent a player's worth or non-worth, and I know you are there with this as a fact, and hopefully i might add are 100% correct. I must look up to remind myself what they mean sometimes, whatever.
But Chris, the guy is a closer, and he's going in there in what should be one inning of shutdown work, and giving up runs....last night's scenario
leading to League in light of DBB's infinite wisdom, which is a harbinger of doom , most of the time.
Blown save is a blown save, and can never be a good thing.

I actually was impressed, also, at how they both wriggled off the hook so many times. I thought that the last out in the 5th by Beckett would be his death knell when DBB left him in, but it worked out for him.
Timmy ain't the old Timmy, but he still can be a mofo out there at times.
