Below is the 25 man (active) roster. Look at it closely. If you see a World Series team, you are insane. This team is not good looking at all. I think that we have won on the backs of one of the best hitters of this decade and some very timely pitching. Yes, I know pitching wins championships but normally it is a group of Allstars. We are rocking Capuano. Please. No offense to Cap but the last time he was considered an Allstar was when iPod nanos were considered innovative. Look at our infield. We have a supposed phenom playing short who cannot hit, cannot bunt, cannot field, and lately has lost the ability to run well. We have a first baseman who went from "guaranteed batting title" to "oh shit, Loney with runners on". We have a backup catcher playing well above his head with his one ability being that he can walk. But, obviously, the league has figured out he will take a fastball down the pipe for strike one. We have a 3rd baseman who does more harm than good most of the time. We have nine 2nd basemen--none of whom has learned to hit. We have a 29 year old career minor leaguer outhitting 90 percent of the team. We have one great hitter who cannot run without tearing his vagina. We have a decent hitter who makes every lefthander look like Koufax. We have a plethora of outfielders who were decent hitters and can occasionally find a hole. Other than that, they are 4-8 years past their prime. We are what we are. To suggest anything else, is retarded. I love this team and I knew they would come back down but this last three weeks has sucked donkey balls. They have no life. They look lost. They do not seem ready for even a hint of October. I am awaiting the trade deadline as much as everyone else but let us be really honest. Do you expect Colletti to do anything outside of a "cagy veteran for premium prospects"? He is who he is. If it says over-the-hill, former Gnat, and easily injured, he is money. At this point, I am training my mind to remain optimistic. I agree that a losing streak with this team is a little more "panic" worthy because of the roster we have. It isn't a great team (roster wise) just playing through a rough patch. As a result of the roster we have (a very underwhelming one offensively), any losing streak brings up the question of "Has the REAL Dodger team arrived?". We don't know what this team is. When good players playing poorly happens, there is less panic. When scrubs play like scrubs, you cannot help but think that reality has sunk in. But we'll see. Going into the season I was gonna be stoked if we were 4-5 games out of first by the end of July with a chance to improve.
This we have to wait before we can pass judgement on the new ownership group that being said... you fucks inherited a 1st place team now it's on you to show your commitment to winning and to us fans if you don't, then fuck you! we fans have been patient put up or shut up
It has to be the right move though. There's no sense in trying to rush a move to try to appease the fans when if it backfires we'll all be bitching just as much in 5 years. If nothing presents itself that makes good baseball sense I'd rather stand pat than make a brash, shitty move.
I think we literally lead baseball in comebacks and walk offs. Not sure if you're just referring to the past 3 days though.
We'll probably be aight. But it will be painful to not be in first place when we were 7.5 up at one point.
absolutely agree no giving up a Pedro Martinez or Carlos Santana otherwise, like you said, better to stand pat funny though... with all the bashing (admittedly, myself included) pretty impressive what this team has accomplished sans Kemp... I mean, we're (again, myself included) all bitching, and yet we're still in 1st place idk, I need a drink
Definitely. Everyone's feelings and psyche have adjusted based on the actual performance. If someone had told us the team would be in first place by 4 games on June 21 with the 2nd best record on earth we'd all have been ecstatic. We have a better winning percentage without Kemp than does any other team in the National League the whole season. So I mean we're blasting expectations away in every aspect, as shitty as this series was.
I'm not taking anything seriously until Kemp comes back. Adding him and another solid bat to this lineup in late July is going to do wonders. I'm excited. I just hate waiting. If we pick up the right bat at the deadline, we'll run off with this division.
Hopefully our good luck with the division keeps up when we play the gnats. You just know how giddy they are at these losses from us.
I think at some point penciling "Dee Gordon" into our fantasy projected deadline deal lineups is not a fantasy worth having.
Actually, trading Dee would be a great move IMO. He still has huge potential and it might not be bad idea to trade him and get a win now SS in the process. Who or how is obviously the tough part. I don't think I want to wait a few more years for Dee to get his shit together. We need to win now while we can. Right now...He can't... bunt for hits sacrifice bunt steal bags without getting caught too much get on base hit for average hit for power(obviously never will) field the ball reliably throw the ball accurately IMO, at this time, he has close to ZERO value to this team. In the future, with more time...that list can and probably be cut down too... hit for power(obviously never will)
We can't trade Dee. It's like trading a retard who humps the clubhouse doorknob. No one is gonna want that.
Good assessment, except overly kind. His value isn't zero, it's literally negative. He's been easily one of the worst players in baseball this season.
