Well, based on the high praise he had as a minor leaguer not long ago, and his hot streak last season and highlight reel defence at times, he still is very tradeable to one of the low budget teams or a team looking for a future SS.
Other teams announcers seem to think highly of him still, as they do Loney...so..well forget it.

Yeah LOL... he reminds of Steve Martin in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" when he played "Ruprecht"...his behavior sometimes seems certifiable. When he took a piss at the table ?
I guess everyone should just stay where they are on a fly ball between the IF and OF.
Dee be insane, man. I wanna like him so badly...I think that it was Fordie who wrote that he's just stupid...indeed. Head like a sieve, man. He was throwing pebbles at Crisp when he was bird dogging him at 2B. the other night.
Makes Odawg look like Stephen Hawking.
Anyway, if the Dodgers are still the Dodgers, he isn't going anywhere. Not now. They'll wait a lo-o-on-ng time on a guy who they believe in. i.e. Loney, Martin, Bills. They finally let Martin go , and were reluctant to do so, even after his crash and burn. They still gave him a pretty good offer.
Loney-- they might be ready to off, but you never know...they might try and low ball him. And keep him. Ouch!
    Dee is the SS.
    Now anyway.
    It ain't happening boyos.

There seems to be this incorrect notion on the internet, particularly in this forum, that the best team wins. I understand your issues, and I have the same ones. We need a new 1B. We need a new 3B. We need Kemp back. And yeah, this past series was rough, getting swept by sub .500 teams isn't fun.

But at the same time, this team is .600 70 games into the season. Small sample size or pixie dust or whatever, it's already happened.

To SDF's initial comment, the "look of a World Series roster" is ridiculous. Did the Giants lineup have the look of a WS Champion two years ago? What about the Cardinals rotation last year after Carpenter. Or the Phillies rotation the year they won, with Hamels, Blanton, Brett Myers and Jamie Moyer? Teams win the World Series every year that aren't necessarily the best teams, or even close to it. Hell, if that was the case, it wouldn't even be worth our time posting here every day, as the Yankees and Rangers are so much better than we are it's not worth the discussion.

Essentially the goal is, make the playoffs, and hope you get hot. There is no formula to win a World Series.

You guys say things like, "We can't win a World Series with Dee at SS". The Giants won one with Renteria. "We can't win a World Series with Billingsley!" The Cardinals second and third best pitchers the first time they won the WS were Anthony Reyes and Jeff Weaver.

Make the playoffs, get hot/lucky. Am I oversimplifying things? Yeah, probably, but you guys make it seem like this is a puzzle, and if we put the pieces together correctly you win. That's not reality. The Dodgers can win a World Series this year, then sign Hamels and Hamilton and win 80 games next season and miss the playoffs. I'm not saying we should ignore our issues and leave everything to chance, that's foolish, but to the same token there's only so much you can do.

For the record, there is a formula. Put out out a great team, play well, and be better than your opponents.

It's pretty easy to say that teams that win the World Series are good because they won the World Series. You're saying if you were a fan of the 2006 Cardinals you would have thought they were good enough to win a World Series after going 25-36 to finish the season? I'd bet not, considering you made this thread after losing one series and being 14 games over in June lol.

Of those teams you listed, want to know how many of them were the best teams in baseball? Probably 1, the 2009 Yankees. The 2002 Angels, the 2003 Marlins and the 2004 Red Sox were Wild Cards, not even the best teams in their division, let alone baseball. The Yankees, as much as I hate to say it, were the best team in baseball on paper for about 15 of the past 20 years. If baseball was as cut and dry as you make it seem, they'd win it all like 75% of the time. I'm not saying the 2011 Cardinals weren't "good". I'm saying they weren't great, and were just good enough.

But yeah, obviously bad teams don't win World Series', but we're not a bad team, as you can tell by our record.

To your last comment "For the record, there is a formula. Put out out a great team, play well, and be better than your opponents." We have a team that, through 70 games, has played well and played better than their opponents. Are we great? No. But counting a team out that's .500 right now would be foolish, let alone a team that set the pace for the entire MLB through more than half the season.

In short, my point is this. We're an 85 win team. 85 win teams can win 78 games and miss the playoffs by double digits, and then again, 85 win teams can win 92 games and then win the World Series. It happens, and it happens quite often, hell, it's happened two years in a row.

I am not disagreeing on your numbers. I just want us to be a 90 win team who happens to win 105. That is what we should be. So much talent is being wasted currently and so much crap is being played. We are not being the best Dodgers we can be--Colletti put us in a bad position and the current team is winning (previous to this weekend) despite that. I want to win because we are fielding a great team made of great players not a team playing above its head.

And everyone on this forum wants that. We all want the Dodgers to be the next Rangers. But guess what? So does every fan base lol.

That doesn't mean that we can't win with what we can though. We're not as good as the Rangers, but you made it seem like it'd be impossible for this team to win anything, and that's flat not true. Pretty good teams win all the time.

I am not asking to be the Rangers. I am asking for one or two players who are full time and reliable. Look at our cast. Ethier and Kemp. Thank God for Herrera and AJ.

Had a 7.5 game lead at one point. Too bad to be in second place in not too long. No matter how you slice it.

Does Mousey need to get a "The 2nd Place Thread" ready to go?

35 games into the season we were 13 games above .500

71 games into the season we are 13 games above .500

This team reminds me of the 2008 Diamondbacks who rode one hot month for the entire season before finally flaming out and losing the division to a .500 scrub team.

The thing to keep in mind when judging the new front office is that they did not inherit a first place team, but merely a team in first place. It will take some time to turn this ship around. In the meantime we can only hope on a wing and a prayer for some October excitement.

^ Hey man we kicked ass once we got Manny!

This is different though, we're playing without the best fucking player in the NL. No one realizes how important Matt is to us because they wouldn't be this pissed off right now. If we fall into second place, yeah that would suck, but once we get Matt back this team will go back to the way it was playing in April.

I think the 08 team was pretty solid by August. Well balanced offense.

    Furcal/Angel
    Kent/Dewitt
    Manny
    Ethier
    Kemp
    Loney
    Blake

Can you imagine 11-12 Kemp in that lineup?
