Amazing how similar these experiences are...mind blowing.
My guy showed me my echo, then one of a normal heart, and after the comparison, I said to my gf, "well, let's get across the street...like now"..!
    Sobering, man.

That doesn’t sound fair. Shouldn’t Harper just rotate between teams? One game per team per month?

Yu Darvish's main goal with Cubs: 'To beat the Dodgers'
by Mark Townsend | Big League Stew — 8 hours ago
    douche.png
After meeting in and ultimately splitting the last two National League Championship Series, the growing rivalry between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers will undoubtedly reach another level of intensity in 2018.

That was already the expectation even before Yu Darvish announced his decision to leave the Dodgers behind and join the Cubs on a six-year, $126 million deal on Feb. 10. Now that the ace right-hander has changed allegiances, it should add yet another layer.

Maybe even two or three layers after Darvish publicly confirmed that as he informed Dodgers manager Dave Roberts of his decision on Saturday, he made sure to add that beating L.A. will be his primary goal in Chicago.

    Josh Frydman ✔@Josh_Frydman
Darvish told Dave Roberts he was signing with the Cubs
and said to him "My main goal is to beat the Dodgers."
    11:32 AM - Feb 13, 2018

    Consider the gauntlet thrown down.

Darvish, who was the Dodgers major acquisition at the 2017 trade deadline, didn’t have the best ending to his brief stay in Los Angeles. The last memory baseball fans there will have of him are his two disastrous starts that probably cost the Dodgers the World Series. Many Dodgers fans undoubtedly aren’t over that yet. Those who aren’t certainly didn’t need any fuel for their frustration with or anger towards Darvish, but they got some here.

Of course, the Cubs couldn’t be happier to add Darvish to their rotation. Team president Theo Epstein says adding Darvish was the team’s top priority this winter, which serves as both an endorsement for Darvish and an indication they weren’t keen on bringing back Jake Arrieta.

However you want to take that, the fact is Darvish is now a Cub and as a result the Cubs have further solidified their status as World Series contenders.

So other than a possible Kemp/Braun trade, we’re done on the player acquisition side?

    Pretty anti-climactic.

In retrospect, not getting Ohtani might have been the key non-move for our off-season.

The second an AL team promised him a DH role, it was over for any NL teams. Telling him that they were also going to have a 6 man rotation was the icing on the cake. Can't really be upset with anyone there as the Angels gave him everything he wanted.

The amount of Kemp puff pieces flying around is kind of funny. They sound like the guys are on the team like, "Hey, he's a changed dude and we are happy to have him around!" but I get a hint of "We swear to god he is a changed dude, nothing to hide here, you should totally trade for him!"

No press conference to announce he was back, no fanfest appearance
LAD would love to trade him in the middle of the night

Also, I'm gonna need Kemp's official weight checking into the Spring training.
If he's lost nearly 50 lbs..what the fuck was he weighing? 280lbs? Lol That's insane.
I know he's not checking in below 220lbs.
Yeah, I don't know if losing 50 lbs. in one off-season is going to translate into a positive gain.
Like a boxer trying to make weight, dropping 20lbs at the last second, sapping his strength..I can't see that big of a weight drop translating very well, at least not this season.
That said, in regards to his defense in LF..LAD has been really good at positioning it's OF'ers defensively, so maybe they'll be able to help him some there.
But outside of LAD helping him, don't have much confidence

I actually think that sucks more cuz the DH roll screwed the Dodgers and every other NL team from having a chance.

Well Baseball Reference, ESPN, MLB, Fangraphs, everyone has him checking in at 210LB. I guess we will have to wait and see with our eyes. Also MGT had Crawford and Manny in LF.......so I doubt Kemp is worse than those jokers.

They're essentially telling us that Kemp was the size of a NFL defensive tackle 2-3 months ago.
    What?

He was huge at the end of the season and 41 pounds in the matter of 19-20 weeks is not anything out of this world. It is a great job, don't get me wrong, but it should not do anything detrimental to his strength unless he was not doing any bit of weight training whatsover(which he is). He definitely had that type of weight to lose and another 9lbs over the course of 6 more weeks is not terrible either. Dr's say more than 3lbs a week over the course of 12+ weeks is when things get dicey and somewhat unsafe. The reason I know this is when I quit playing rugby, I ballooned due to me also quitting working out(smart!). I have always been a solid athletic guy and just totally let myself go over the course of a year. I couldn't do shit physically without running out of steam, which was saying something since I was coming from altitude as well. Over the course of 18 weeks, I lost over 50 lbs. I can tell you that I was a hell of a lot stronger, regained my footspeed plus a couple tics and my energy is through the roof. This dude is a professional athlete, working with professional trainers and professional dietitians, I would bet that he helped himself with the weight loss, not hurt.

One thing is for certain, losing that much weight has to make things easier on his bad hips.
That said, hopefully he continues to embrace the proper dietary habits because after an off-season of this much work, and considering his hip issues, it's not going to be easy showing the same level of commitment to the weight room during a long season - when he has been known to pick up weight in recent years.
I'm less optimistic than you are..Dodgers seem to be as well, continuing to look for trade partners on his behalf.
But again, I think that if he starts the season with LAD and he's raking, that he'll finish the season with LAD.
I don't see this scenario where Matt Kemp is raking for the Dodgers and they up and trade him during the season
