If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Hill makes that much for this and next year.
Baltimore might be able to put him to work, maybe allow him 7 innings a game.
Machado is more than a replacement. He would be our best player by far.
Hill, Kemp, and Grandal would be a big boost to the Orioles chances of winning games.

If two of Forsythe, Taylor, and Puig aren't good, we're really going to have a rough year. Whether Manny comes or not.

I think Taylor will indeed turn it around.
But I want a Dodger team that is so stacked that Taylor is the utility player.
I want Joc to get his Joc strap back on tight.
Verdugo to be the next big thing.
Toles to prove a valuable backup.

    In two years...

    3B: Seager
    SS: Machado
    RF: Harper
    1B: Bellinger
    2B: Turner
    CF: Verdugo
    LF: Joc
    C : Ruiz

    Kike, Toles, Barnes,

Kemp, Logan, Hill, Grandal, Brock Stewart and some prospects for Machado and Britton.
The orioles can then flip Kemp and Grandal to a contender at the deadline for more prospects.

I think Verdugo has a high floor and a medium ceiling. Should be a good ballplayer but wouldn't say next big thing.

I like how he doesn't strikeout so much though. A novelty on this team.

By next big thing I mean next big thing for the Dodgers.
    Like Chris Taylor last year.
I don't believe he will be a Bellinger type of impact (hoping Buehler is this years Bellinger).
But he may have a Taylor like impact hopefully. That would be a big help to this team.
If he could be a solid Puig instead of the inconsistent Puig we have.

I don't think he will be the next big thing, but I will say that he is certainly raising an eyebrow for me this season(beyond the 3 games, but MiLB and ST as well). If this new found power surge is for real, the club has another very good young major leaguer on their hands and may be forced to find a spot for him in the everyday lineup. The amount of swing and miss throughout the lineup is scary and his ability to not only put a ball in play, but work a good amount of walks is something this roster really needs. I have posted this before from what I have heard people say of Verdugo, his trajectory thus far is that of a pre-2015 second half Daniel Murphy, but walking more. If he adds loft to his swing, he is 2015 second half-since Daniel Murphy that walks more. We have seen in the post season how important a player like that is to have on a roster and if he can provide 20+ HR's to his #'s then he won't be some superstar, but he will be a great complementary to Seager and Bellinger in the years ahead.

Chris Taylor's WAR was a game higher than Bellinger's last season, plus CT3 was NLCS MVP. So a Chris Taylor Impact > a Bellinger Impact

So you are saying Taylor provided a bigger impact to the Dodgers last year than Bellinger?

If you are a rookie and become a starter on a team with WS aspirations I consider it an impact.

    - Tim Locastro and Yimi Garcia have been recalled. Ryu to DL and Valera has been demoted. Garcia may still yet be a work in progress, but a change is needed to be made in the bullpen and his upside is higher than most guys in the pen. Locastro has potential to be a valuable UTL player that won't provide many HR's, but seems to be able to do everything else well.

    - Jon Heyman is reporting that the Dodgers are discussing another run at Manny Machado.

    - Ryu is going to be out until after the ASB

Contracts are probably prorated so that would help with the tax. If they waited until mid-season, they'd owe Machado 8 million instead of 16.
But they need his bat (and a better bullpen) immediately. It's going to be tough to wait.

O's have already taken their " we're still evaluating our team, we don't want to trade him him right now " public stance.
And they have Manny cooperating and saying the " I don't want to leave " BS
They're not going to make this easy when really these teams are a good match to get something done personnel/philosophy wise
But yeah, as said before, LAD damn well better have interest in landing Manny right now

The Dodgers are actually a good bit under the tax. The problem is that there are very achievable bonuses that will eat up a lot of what is left. So adding even $8M could kill the goal.

Add Gausman or Bundy to the haul, probably Gausman, but Bundy's making less

Why can't it ever be Baez?

So does Walker get an extended stay?
