If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Grandal (at any time) and the current version of Kemp don't exactly scream star power.

My stupid, crazy, out there idea got blown up the second Ryu went down... My plan was eventually slide to a rotation of Kershaw, Buehler, Ryu, Maeda, Santana and move both Hill and Wood to the bullpen til around the all star break and then start transitioning them back into the rotation from maybe occasional piggybacks for Buehler and Santana + high leverage relievers when needed. Just something to maybe get us to the deadline and keep 2 of the most important arms for a deep playoff run from getting taxed. Santana had another good start tonight at 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6K's. Striking out well over a batter per inning and matching with a sub1 WHIP.

Is this a good place to mention that Hill was number 2 on our team in playoff Innings Pitched each of the last 2 seasons, and he had the lowest playoffs ERA of any of our starters both years?

He might be the only pitcher that we can count on in the post. Seriously.

I don't even want to think what could have been if Wood and Hill got more playing time in the postseason.

i get you, im a fan of hill, i want him to pitch more and be allowed to dominate when he is feeling it
but we know how dave will manage him
there is nothing wrong with hill right now yet dave put him on the DL
he could pitch through the fingernail issue easily, it was not cause for concern to anyone other than dave
i would even blame some of kershaws woes to dave

Count on to toss 60-70 pitches as the 1st leg in a 100 pitcher relay race
LAD is fucked if Hill is their most trusted starter

Then long term, with his arm maybe being an issue moving forward, they could move Seager to 1B. Of course he loses some luster at 1B, but I think LAD would be fine if Seager settled into a consistent Olerud-caliber 1B that can net you 20-25 HR with a .295/.380/.460 every year. Just have to slug a little more at some of the other defensive spots and Manny would give them that @ SS. Go ahead and keep Turner at 3B, at least until Arenado maybe becomes an option the following offseason.

" How in the fuck do you sign both Machado and Arenado!?! "..let Kershaw walk after this season. That's what I'd do. You're talking about Rich Hill being the only starter we can count on the post-season..well, why in the blue hell would I load Kershaw up with 200M if that's the case? Regular season production obviously has it's value, but if he's not going to get it done when it matters most, that money is just better spent elsewhere, mainly on superstars in their prime. Can just go young with the rotation and wait for a Verlander type of vet to become available later. Letting Greinke go looks like a blessing..same with Darvish leaving..LAD could go 3-3 here if they let Kershaw walk too

Arenado is great, but he usually is around .200 OPS points less away from Coors. That puts him at Joc OPS levels.

There should be an Outs Per Game stat instead.

Do we know it was definitely Dave who put him on the DL and not the "others"?
...and since Hill doesn't seem to pitch at all any more ( I guess I must he missing his greatness ), what is it exactly that is wrong with his hand or finger or nail or skin...whatever?
Is it leprosy? Gangrene? Smallpox? MS? Tic dela ru?
Goddam, just wtf does this guy have that the only place you see him is chatting at the railing every game?
