?

If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Still feel this is a long shot given the FO MO.

Hell, we should have gone after Stanton then given the crap the Yanks gave up for him.

It's a long shot because of Baltimore's owner.
The line you're drawing from Stanton to Machado is not a parallel one. For 1), Manny is 25 and the better player. And then of course, the $ commitment is minimal in comparison to Stanton. Would they aim to keep Manny? Only time would tell. But ultimately, this shit's not happening because of Angelos and Nightenfail.

Buehler is expected to make a rehab start this week and then rejoin the big club. Sounds like they are ready to get him back. Word is that the Dodgers will go to a 6 man rotation when he returns, which A. need to get there first and B. Probably not a bad idea for at least a couple weeks if they can manage.

Could help Wood and Maeda, too
    The whole staff, really
Kershaw has dipped down a tier to where he has to just follow orders and take the rest.

It seems that most pitchers do better with that extra day of rest, so I am for it. Especially when:
    1. Is dealing with back and bicep issues
    2. Is dealing with endless blister problems
    3. Is from the NBPL where he only threw once a week and has always performed better after the extra day.
    4. Is dealing with a hamstring issue and should probably go on the DL anyway
    5. Has been the ace of this squad, but hasn't been a starter in 2+ years and is gonna need to trim his innings
    6. Has been #1B in the rotation, but now is recovering from a fractured rib and he too is a strict innings limit for a club that has World Series aspirations.

I’m now obsessed with the idea of getting Treinen plus Lowrie from the A’s. Either that or getting Gennet plus a Reds reliever.

Obviously Machado would be the number one ideal thing but my only fear is putting all the resources into Machado and not getting a reliever. We need one reliever more than anything IMO

0.23 HR/9, doesn't really walk guys. Ks 10+ /9. Historically gets a lot of ground balls...

    Lowrie with a wRC+ of 135...

Yeah, I'm down. Not flashy but could work.

I dunno about that. By my count, they can't count on their ace or closer in the post season and the lineup isn't going to scare anybody in the post either. I don't see Chris Sale or Justin Verlander fearing Max Muncy. Obviously, they're not going to go out and find a new leader of the rotation, new closer, and grab a Machado at the deadline, though, so..

the thing that's really pissing me off is the mismanagement of buehler
first, and as others have stated... you do not give a (sorry, still unproven) young pitcher have a rehab start in the majors
and then shipping him to the minors immediately after the bad outing is just, well, fucken asinine!
in addition to (essentially) closing the gate after the horses have fled...
what kind of message does that send buehler, other players/prospects and (us) fans???
not saying the organization has no idea what they're doing...
i mean, it's not they keep playing a defensively challenged .218/.324/.320 2nd baseman in the lineup [sarcasm]
    :smh:

    edit:
    and right on cue
    roberts, on buehler's demotion...

“The decision to option Walker was just to give him the best opportunity to build up. You look at optioning him, giving him a runway to get his pitch count up, it gives him the best chance to come back and help us. … Thinking through other scenarios where we could avoid an option, at the end of the day it was best for Walker and best for us.”

yeah, if this were the case (it isn't) why wouldn't you just have him begin his rehab stint down there?!!!
lol at the best for walker...
all you douches are trying to do is divert the blame elsewhere

They should have just come out and said we fucked up. That would have been more respected than that horseshit response.

Yup...it's like Ol' Abe said... "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time". Buehler should have had " his day off" the other night. What was proven by throwing him out there? Arrogance?
Shit is old now. You get FO crap crammed down your throat from everywhere, here, too, when they make a move that appears slick at some point. Like Dee and getting Kike and Barnes, etc. Sure, some moves were tactically sound.
But after all is said and done, they are losers. Was getting to the 7 th game of the WS, but losing, the whole ball of wax?
We got there, but they lost, so now go to save money mode. Too bad if they can't win in 5 post season chances.
After all, baseball is a business...and the business of business is to make money.

and many/most will tell us... "get to the postseason, the rest is a crapshoot"
while i agree with that in theory, how do we then explain perennial losers like the giants and red sox winning multiple ws after failing miserably over and over since before elvis debuted (giants) and (in the case of the chowds) before mussolini established the fascist party???
yes, it's a crapshoot... but it would appear some might be better than others at giving themselves the best chance(s)...
idk, seems to me the more ping pong balls you have the better the odds?...

I think all the questions on how we are going to fare in, or who we don't have for playoffs is putting the cart so fucking far ahead of the horse with this team out there now, it is really laughable.
