It's a smart strategy but Minnesota not known for an Asian community plus NO history of signing Japanese born players to my knowledge.

I guarantee they aren’t signing either.

Although I’m not too good with predictions, I feel pretty solid about this one

I could see the Twins wildly overpaying Darvish, but yeah, no chance on Ohtani. It’s basically either going to be Dodgers or NYY from everything I’m hearing and reading now. He says it’s not about the money, but you know he’s going to have to make some big bucks somehow to make up for the 450k a year he’s bringing in the next 2-3 years. He’ll go somewhere that will promise him insane marketing opportunities and those are his top two options.

This would be a good one and our FO has a history with the Reds FO now. There was a blink and you’ll miss it rumor last year that the Dodgers kicked the tires on Iglesias, but the Reds responded with a quick, “he’s not available”. Get him, pair it with retaining Morrow and add Ziegler in the Stanton trade and our bullpen should be solid.

With Yasmani available on the open market next offseason, I guess I can see a possibility where nobody's in a hurry to send proper spec value over to LAD for his services this offseason.
Seems like a deal where LAD may need multiple contending teams to bid for him feeling like they're a piece away, at least for the return to make sense for LAD..and obviously, that really doesn't seem likely given the volatility in his offensive production.
Still, can't see LAD willingly giving him up for scraps..sort of feels like a situation where Yasmani could be starting at catcher for LAD again next season..or the old awkward situation where Barnes beats him out and Yasmani/his agent try to force LAD into a trade during the season..which would be healthy for the club.

The Giancarlo Stanton trade saga has been one of the top storylines of the offseason, and there’s no end in sight at the time being. To date, the Cardinals and Giants have reportedly submitted formal offers, while the Dodgers and Red Sox have also been linked to the slugger.

We’ll track today’s developments on the Stanton front right here:

    • Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that Stanton has given the Marlins a list of teams to which he’d accept a trade, and the Dodgers are among those teams (all links toTwitter). Per Morosi, the Dodgers and Marlins have discussed some Stanton trade scenarios, but the Giants and Cardinals have shown more focused interest in Stanton. Some teams interested in Stanton feel the Dodgers are his top choice, which could slow negotiations as Stanton could veto any deal until knowing for certain that the Dodgers don’t plan on making a move for him. At this point, however, Stanton has not rejected any trades, according to Morosi.

Only way I see a Stanton deal coming together is if he forces his way to LA and they agree to take Kazmir, maybe McCarthy and at least half of Adrian's money (~$50M total) with some other assets, makes the deal a more palatable $218M after 2020 should he not opt out (yea right).

    Not likely.
