Wages are good of course. But they do not determine if you are a slave.
Neither does work determine slavery.
Work is essential. Working with others is best.
Learning for someone is great.
Being employed is fantastic.
Having a master is being a slave.
Working at something that demoralizes the spirit is being a slave.
Prostitutes are slaves. Even the ones that do it willingly. Their will is already enslaved.
Killing yourself to live is being a slave.

any situation you can get out of willingly is not being enslaved
but it's a blurred line
everybody is a wage slave, and if not them their fathers... and/or their fathers

A man who repeatedly stressed his desire to strike down Roe v Wade, helped George Bush 2 steal an election, refused to recuse himself when longtime friend Dick Cheney appeared before him. He supported the execution of minors and the mentally challenged, allowed his belief in Catholic polytheist mumbo jumbo to inform his decisions over the decades that comprised his tenure.

His opinion on LGBT rights?
