How disappointing is this team? I didn't have it on me to make a U turn after the final out. That's how deflating it has become. I am just getting out of my car after sitting here for 5 minutes plus.
dbb needs a couple of steel balls for that captain queeg thing he has going. straight up imo this is a great guy that is not cut out to lead.
Its easy to judge it with hindsight but during their decision making it was a worthy calculated risk. Attendance needed to come up thanks to mccourts trash product out here, the Nl was as wide open as its ever going to be, the best team was gonna lose their best pitcher. Loney's pathetic production and lilly's never healing injury left 2 vacant positions we could fill, lf was gonna be vacant next year. Crawford has had injuries but in his first 162 games in boston, his numbers were identical to his career averages, so the talent and ability remained. they went for it, but who could see chad getting hurt that same day, jansen later. victorino basically being the same as gwynn, (thats not good) and kemp getting hurt every week? the chemistry was never there, probaby because there was a revolving door of slumping guys. this team used to dominate first innings, lately they are getting destroyed 24-7 in 1sts. there really isnt a cogent explanation for this it almost feels like its beyond the field its almost supernatural whats going wrong
oh i agree with that. initially i thought we just overpaid with young talent and not having boston take on at least half of that money. in that way i thought the red sox took advantage. but i would never have guessed it would look like this. and i still think we have value in gonzalez and possibly beckett. crawford was like making the rich boy on your block take trash in a trade because you could. it should have been the ultimate panacea but it is what it is. now it hurts.
Yes it is easy to judge in hindsight and I do agree it was a good risk to take. However, trades are not evaluated by if they were a good risk to take or not, they are evaluated by results and the results have been complete shit so far. Not only has this trade done absolutely nothing for us but it now hinders us on going after Josh Hamilton (better than A-Gon, not close) but we also traded RDLR and Webster. This deal was only worth it if it helped us win this year and it clearly has not. Horrid trade if we do not get to the WS this year.
Basically going from rooting for the Dodgers to rooting against the Angels, Yankees, Tigers, Cardinals, and hoping the Giants get bounced in round one. Angels for obvious reasons. Yankees and Tigers so we aren't the only epic failures, the Cardinals becuse I hate them, and the Giants getting embarrassed will hopefully make the off season analysis more watchable. Losing is one thing. But now we are going to be talked negatively about for 6 months.
Wanna know the difference between Cubs fans and Dodgers fans under 23, nothing. We've always rooted for a shitty product.
They've really been nothing great since '85. Broxton... I mean Need-en-phew-er had to ruin it however.
This shit would be so much easier to take if we didn't have A-Gon on our team, not saying I don't want him but my expectations wouldn't be so high which would make this epic shittiness be easier to take.
Would rather him at 42 ion the cleanup spot than Kemp at-the-moment. Gutless, useless, passionless cocksuckers. This team doesn't deserve to make the playoffs. This is how you play twice in a row with the season on the line? Bullshit. The "useless" team with Gwynn/Dee/Herrera in the first half deserved to go to the playoffs by playing out-of-their-skins as a team in spite of each others obvious shortcomings. Not this bunch of homo's. This team doesn't deserve fucking shit. Die. Hopefully we can win a few more games, hope others lose, make the playoffs and get lucky/hot in the crapshoot and go all the way. But hardly any of these cocks deserve it, but we fucking do having to put up with this shit.
