Dee gets caught too much/never is on base Gwynn is getting caught over 40% of the time I don't know what the team percentage is but if you're gonna get caught, just stop. This is ludicrous. Every time a runner goes we get caught. Every once in a while we steal one off the pitcher. Other than that, horrible jumps and lead footed slugs.
Prove it wrong Stealing bases is something you do if you can If you can't you are racking up free outs We aren't stealing bases efficiently.
Well, really the only problem with stealing bases WE have right now is Gordon and Gwynn, right? Gwynn just seems slow to me now. He should probably just stop...period. Gordon on the ither hand NEEDS to keep stealing. I mean if he doesn't steal base...he really has no value whatesoever! He already cannot bunt, sac bunt, hit for high average, walk enough to boost OBP, Field easy plays without too many errors. Again, this is exactly why he should be in Triple A for at least one more season...probably two IMO. When I watch Herrera play, all I think of is how much better Dee would be if he was polished like Herrera. He has the tools to be better than Herrera IMO.
I don't give a fuck if we are getting caught more, we need to stay aggressive, that is how we win. In case you forgot, we don't have many power hitters on this team so we need to stay aggressive on the base paths and manufacture runs. Not to mention that many of these could’ve come on busted hits and runs where the batter K’s or swings and misses. Also, we are second in the majors in OBP so that means we have been on base more and have had more attempted SBs. I’m not happy when we get caught, but we need to keep running, PERIOD.
Well it's the way many on these forums are. We have a group that really just complains and complains about everything and everyone Dodger related. If I didn't pay close attention to every single game and see that we lead all of baseball with a great record...I'd be convinced this team is horrible, based on what is posted on these boards. I am guilty of this too...it just seems to be the way it is for us here now. I don't know. Is it over 20 years without a ring? Is it the frustration that the Angels beat us? Is it just the residual bad feelings from the McCourt era? Is it the stress of one run games every day? I just think, when i step back and look, that we should all be fucking crazy happy about this team. Why does it not seem that way?
We don't have to stop stealing, we just need to get better at it. It's a two way street and I don't think Dee or anyone is actively seeking advice on how to get better on it. I doubt Lopes is only teaching base stealing, so he's got all these guys he has to mentor.
If the Dodgers stop stealing bases they will become similar to all those boring American League teams. And this offense is hard enough to watch at times so we need all the excitement we can get.
I don't really want them to stop stealing I just wanted to raise attention to it. Gwynn has really lost a step and when the season started, we thought Dee will virtually be an automatic stolen base. But boy does he get thrown out by A MILE at times.
We are 28th in MLB in successful SBs, and we are trying to make this about complaining just to do it? lol I admit "STOP" stealing is extreme and incorrect to do. But there is no doubt it's a bit of an issue and is a valid concern. We thought it would be a strong suit.
