I'll add this: If we end up with Lee, we better not have anything to do with Hamilton this off-season.
The Hamilton market will go one of two ways. Either GMs will be all over him or he will be out there for the taking. I get the sense that feelings on the guy are feast and famine. If the market goes the way of the former, I think Ned swoops in and grabs two hitters. I also see us being in on Marcum and Greinke.
Don't get me wrong, I'd take Hamilton at 6/160 or so, but not 10/240. I see Ned pursuing Bourn or Melky Cabrera to be that 1/2 type hitter. Could also look at Swisher as a full-time 1B, even if he hits .265 his OBP would be a huge upgrade over Loney/Rivera.
Didn't the Dodgers and Phils have until this afternoon to sort a deal out? Looks like the ship has sailed.
NL West Notes: Lee, Dodgers, Rockies By Edward Creech [August 5, 2012 at 3:01pm CST] Cliff Lee will remain a Phillie as the window on the Dodgers' waiver claim closed today. Lee responded by allowing three home runs in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks this afternoon. But, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com outlines two scenarios explaining why the Phillies held onto Lee. In other news involving teams from the NL West:
