Puig just aint THAT good. If he's our 7th hitter or something, cool. Do your thing. But I don't want any responsibility on your shoulders, Yasiel. There are intangibles in this game believe it or not.
Yup, I'm gonna have to join the darkside (racist) and start ripping the FO. They've put this collection of arms together. Failure. Utter failure.
we just have to make it through these next 6 to 8 weeks somehow. we have worthwhile reinforcements on the way in ethier, ryu, mccarthy, jdl, urias, mccarthy, and maybe montas. if we keep our heads above water until then we can definitely find a spot in the playoffs somewhere. not that we would be juggernauts heading in but the playoffs are a crapshoot
This kid in the minors hasn't allowed a run in a month and we have to keep watching Wood every fifth day. I don't care that he can only go 5 innings it's better than Wood going 6 and allowing 5 runs every time.
Joc Pederson's wRC+ is significantly higher then everyone else on the team, outside of Grandal (who has almost 30 less at bats). The strikeout rate is always gonna make him look worse but, funny that we all (including myself) panicked about him and after one month you can make an argument he's had the best results
Just speaking as a fan here: I actually think Puig has been underrated in the past. People act like he was only good for 3 months in 2013. No, he's been very productive over the course of his entire career when healthy. And has a team friendly contract as well. But I'm just over him. I know it's convenient to be talking crap when he's slumping. But get his value up and ship him off if you can get something good.
what concerns me is those at bats like he had tonight more than once we've seen him take strike three right down the middle on a fastball you can't go up there guessing, especially with two strikes when you need to protect the plate want to look curveball, fine but you've got to at least be prepared to foul something else off
puig would be a lot better if he had a surrounding cast but (like you alluded in a prior post) you can't have him as a key guy to rely on
Joc and Puig both need to hit the ball big time And like NZ states that isn't the issue... the weak ass bullpen giving up 6 runs in two innings is death. No amount of Joc and Puig will overcome Baez, Hatcher and Yimi
Can't believe I'm saying this, but Blanton should be the set up guy effective immediately. Also have hope Coleman can put together some quality innings. They don't have awesome stuff but they've been getting some outs. Maybe lib can be one of our lefties. Idk, I'm just so done with the howell, hatcher, Baez rag tag.
The FO, Honeycutt, and Roberts need to get together and figure out a way to make Alex Wood useful. If it's 2 times through the order/5 innings and done...so be it. If it's in the bullpen...fine. Figure out a way to make the pieces work. It's insanity at this point watching the same crap over and over and over.
I only watched during my lunch break, but his stuff was good, IMO. Just leaves a few too many pitches down the middle. I was impressed from what I saw.
Huh? You guys are being ironic, right? How can you have good stuff but leave too many pitches up (that get hammered for HRs?)...am I taking this too literally? Three blasts and 5 runs in 5 innings is not that good, imo. Even with the big K count.
