I guess everyone has their own opinion on Maeda, but I don't see how his stuff is that good if the dude-san is giving up a run an inning...I mean if you go out there for 12 innings, and you give up about 12 runs ( not exact figures), is that what a team is looking for? It's not only what he gives up, it's also how he drains everyone else with his mini innings. Not so bad now, in mid April, but later on, a pitcher like he, is the kind of guy Blanton supporters use to explain as " overworked" come September. Guess I'm being too picky...but I see him as quite weak overall. We'll see though...I don't tbink he's going anywhere. At all.
Shaq was a serial slacker, not to mention his pissing contest with Kobe. He could and should have been so much better. He was a mercenary who bounced from team to team when things didn't suit him. His personality masked a lot of that stuff. He's nowhere close to a top 10 all time player. Not close. As you know the Jackie statue is more about his social impact than on the field.
Shaq wasn't perfect, but you don't have to be perfect to get a statue. De La Hoya is a crack head and lost a good amount of his biggest fights, West was a serial loser in the championship round/battled depression/married multiple times, Kobe and his Eagle County, Colorado issues, Magic and his HIV moment, and on and so forth. How about any player's best numbers repeated again...if it's OZ, and it's magic time once again, sure sign him up. Maybe it will...but what I see is a guy who is averaging about a run an inning. And what about in the dog days and Sept.? I hope he's there, believe me. But a guy who looks great one inning with 3 Ks, then puts men on and allows a 3 run HR the next to a scrub the next might be a 5, but that's it. I don't see it as anything so great. Jackie was a 4 sport star and acedemic at UCLA, was a HOF MLB player on production alone, and integrated baseball. A man of faith, family, and integrity. Practiced what he preached. His social impact and contributions off the field are what these phony NBA and NFL SJW douches only wish they could be. He's an American Hero and a Hall of Fame baseball player.
