Guess what ? Offense still sucks...this guy is 2-9 we can't score off again..good thing we've got Mookie hot and Seager. Otherwise, shit. Amazing how it only last for a couple of games...then, inevitability dies it's usual death.
seems to me like JT, Max and Cody are getting their shit together as well and Will has been great Lux hitting the ball fairly well and if TT could come around we could be on the verge of a serious tear w this staff
Good news is Lux is contributing at the plate. Better news is he hasn't killed a CF in the field. Nice first outing for Kershaw after a sketchy start. Would like to have seen him go 5 and get the win, but Dodger wins are more important than Kershaw wins at this point.
Yeah, you're right. Especially, compared to the dinky little output of the recent past, for such a long time. My problem is I'm watching Trea Turner too much...he's done pretty much a 180° lately, and he's betting third. I guess of you have a choice of 5 or so players heating up, and one who was so dependable becoming ineffective, you go with tne quantity. Every time. However, if he continues on his present path, batting third is not the best strategy, imo.
About time the hitting takes up the slack on a night when the bullpen has a hiccup. Good work from Gonsolin. Sharp as he's been in a long time. It's just the old school in me, but watching Bellinger jog to first after smoking the ball at the 2B is a bad look. I get the frustration, but you're not that good. Run it out.
Thank God TT stppod flaing and bailing. Cat Man looking very good. Around MLB, looks like the teams thst should he in the post are playing really good baseball. SD with the worst record in MLB since the break. And, remember the commercials with Cody and Yelich in Cody's MVP year ? ...they could make another one asking wtf happened to these two ? like Pontiac and VW Beetles...or like shaking hands and having sex with a stranger.
Heard on High Heat today an interesting take on the post season scenario...both from the saliva spouting Mad Dog and the comely Alanna Rizzo ( remember her?)... The jist was assuming tne Dodgers are the WC, they get to play, say, the Cards, in the shadows with Wainright on the mound. Curve balling our asses to a loss against a team with possibly 20 more losses in the 162. "If I were the Dodgers or the Giants, I would be fuming over the inequity in W/L and the present structure of the post season system"...the alternative : if we do win, we get to go to SF and play SF best 3 of 5...shouldn't two teams that win ( most likely) 100+ games get a 7 game series against each other ? I thought it food for thought...and seriously hate the Wainwright thing...
The MLB should have one of two rules: 1. Set a limit for the number of games behind for the 2nd wildcard team. If you're not within 10 games, the #1 team in the WC standings automatically goes to the NLDS. There is no way that a 84-78 team and a 101-61 team should get the same reward. 2. Make the 2nd WC team have to win 2 games while the #1 WC team only has to win one. Even the NBA does this to a degree. The 7-8 seeds only had to win one out of 2 games to make the postseason while the 9-10 seeds had to go 2-0. It may sound like sour grapes on my part given the Dodgers situation but I honestly would feel the same way if the Giants ended up in the WC game. A do or die game when one team is 17 games better than their opponent is extremely unfair. I agree with your point about the potential NLDS matchup. The worst record should play the best record in round 1 regardless of division winners. If the Giants get the #1 overall seed which seems likely at this point, they should face the Braves in the NLDS and not face the Dodgers. What kind of system puts the two best teams in baseball against each other in round 1? This doesn't exist in any other sport. The Brewers make out like bandits and have a much easier path to the NLCS for the simple fact that their division sucked. I think the current playoff format is extremely flawed which isn't surprising given the commissioner. You're rewarding teams for playing in lesser divisions while basically punishing teams for playing in strong divisions. The Dodgers get royally fucked over for having to be in a do or die game while having the 2nd best record in the sport and the Giants get fucked over because they potentially have to go through two strong teams(Dodgers, Brewers) to make the WS while the Brewers only have to go through one strong team despite having a way worse record than the Giants.
I think now some psychotic LA fan ( the must be one somewhere ) must stalk Wainwright and cause him stress or something...blister...diarrhea...carpal tunnel...
