This is the Heaney that Yankees fans knew and hated Sometimes a player just owns you...vintage McCutchen
Dodgers need to start getting creative in front of JT in the batting order. They need to do a statistical analysis and determine the odds of getting thrown out attempting to steal second vs the odds of Turner grounding into a DP. Maybe you take the chance and put the onus on the catcher to make a perfect throw. Similarly, maybe try to stretch a single into a double (within reason, when the opportunity is there) ahead of Turner's AB, and make the OF'er make the throw. Seems often the odds would be better than a routine 6-4-3 DP.
This is the most pitiful offensive game in a while, in a recent downturn. What this says to me is that we struggle against any good pitcher who can manage his pitch count. Big zeroes. And that I definitely do not want to see these guys in the playoffs. They easily stack up well against us...very well. And I love Will Smith, blah, blah...but he needs a different glove or some shit. Lately...not so good. And it costs us dearly.
Big fan, too. But he's prone to lapses receiving the ball. Not taking Heaney off the hook for the Renfroe bomb, but he's out of the inning if Smith catches strike three.
0 for 4 with 3 K's. Looks like Bellinger "mentally reset" even more than Davey had expected. Brilliant move!
I'd be really worried about facing this team in the playoffs if they get in. We could only manage a split, and game three could've easily gone the other way with Krumbel on the mound - one more gapper and that was a loss and a 1-3 series. We'll see what happens next week at home, but I just don't like how we match up with them.
