I'm all for signing Cano but the price has to be reasonable!

i know. lol hard to complain about a team that's spent so much and had a great run over the last 2 months, but if you really look at the line up it's missing something and i don't mean Kemp. Hanley's the best hitter in our lineup and he's hitting cleanup...that's not right. but AGon doesn't have the power stroke that he used to have and he struggles to get on base against lefties, so he's really not the guy we need cleaning up either even though he gets his share of RBIs...in a perfect world AGon would be in our 5 or 6-hole. Cano has more pop in general and certainly more pop against lefties...power to all fields as well unlike AGon. Cano also gets on base a hell of a lot more against lefties in comparison to AGon. .349 to .316

i'm just sayin. Crawford and Puig you can flip flop at the top of the order no problem. either one does well enough leading off. Hanley and Cano you can flip flop in the 3 and 4-holes no problem. both fit the mold of guys with good plate approach/power/contact ability/abiliy to draw a walk. and then AGon and Kemp you can flip flop in the 5 and 6-holes no problem...both better served in those spots with Kemp striking out so much and lacking a clue at the plate at times and AGon lacking the pop of a 3/4-hole guy. that'd also unclog the bases since there's a chance that everybody on this board can outrun AGon. lol

Yeah I'm trying to choose my words carefully on A-Gon because he's helped the team in his own way consistently all season and he's a good guy. But his production aint gonna cut it over 6 years for what was invested. He's become a glorified complimentary bat that fits well in a lineup with other established stars. He'll never carry a team. His warning track shots are gonna suck as more and more of them occur.

yeh i appreciate him for what he's done and what he still is as well. we all just gotta keep it real and understand that AGon can do what he does now from the 5 or 6-hole. gotta get somebody that can match Hanley first though. even at his best, that won't be Kemp. strikes out just too damn much and Puig is just too damn crazy at the plate

It'll be Kemp. He was the best player in baseball for a reason.

AGon belongs in the 4-6 spot tops. Not my ideal #3 guy mainly because of his lack of speed and not all that great of power.

    Right?
Not saying the team has to win every game but my first thought tonight...and maybe it was because of the length of the game and annoying people sitting behind me...I felt like I wasted my time.

It's just one of those games you're supposed to win really. losing those are the worst to me.

I disagree on "at his best" Kemp wouldn't be that guy. At his best he would. Even with the Ks. Jmo.
I am, however, concerned that Kemp's career has hit a tangent :(

at his best, Kemp would be a better option to hit clean up than AGon for sure ( with Hanley hitting 3rd of course), but more of an ideal #3 or #4 hitter than Cano? na

Dbb's "brilliant" string has come to a crashing end, at least temporarily for sure. Lots of mystifying moves lately, none which have garnered a victory. How this is a solid BB lineup with this guy batting 5th, IDK. And Uribe out late and Punto in late, is backwards in my book.
I guess we'll have to wait to see how it all works out.
Ugly signs rearing their head again though. We are definitely not a scoring machine lately.
    Poor CK.

Yeah I thought taking out Uribe for Punto was pretty dumb too. Punto had a couple weak ass ABs.

Before yesterday, Belisario hadn't thrown in an entire week, and even last Tuesday had only thrown 5 pitches. Probably why Don was so insistent on Beli going two innings, and probably also why Belisario was very shaky in his first inning of work (I have no data to support this and if I'm not lazy might look it up, but it honestly seems to me that when Belisario goes through stretches where he's super well rested, he always is shaky when he first comes back in then gets himself in a groove)

I like that Adrian isn't starting, and I like our top 4... But what logic is there behind having Hairston and Mark Ellis ahead of Uribe? Seriously.
