not a thread the young guys were too interested in but if any one of you is still reading or following i just wanted to share this this is what genius is and its the reason you hear us old guys speak w the emotion we do about these old bands it had never happened before and i guess its never going to happen again thats a real fucking shame but we were there as it came out in all its glory we may be dinosaurs but we had a seriously great soundtrack to our lives, still do a couple of new york jew junkies that changed my life
fagan is/was one of my favorites steely dan, obviously but listen to his solo albums if you haven't already "the nightfly" is one of my personal faves
it just so obvious watching him talk about how he puts those songs together the guy is light years ahead of most musicians absolute brilliance and i do like his solo stuff just dyed in wool Dan man here from the first song i heard i had chills and i still do
the last live show i saw was the complete royal scam with larry carlton at the now defunct universal amp to say it was transcendent is a massive understatement took my daughter and we literally held each other through the show and i was openly laid open emotionally the beauty of the art these guys created is devastating the drum drop in this song just tore me up on some basic level
imo their greatest album used to get stoned and listen to it non-stop just hearing this song... i can smell stale bong water lol
