Just think of it as three one game playoffs against your biggest rival. If that doesn't get them hyped, nothing will.
^^^ Sad thing about that Casey Blake piece of awesomeness is a) We lost that game and b) Juan Uribe was the one who beat us. I'm hoping the Reds don't know that Dusty Baker is an incompetent moron and play hard to welcome back their sick boss. We just need to keep doing what we're doing.
Kinda crazy, three games left and we haven't been eliminated lol. Obviously there is a great chance it happens soon cause fuck our life but I mean, still cool in perspective With that said, lets fucking go Arroyo and Harang. You guys use to be teammates, now go fuck shit up together
I just can't stop beating myself up with thoughts of frustration that we are in this type of uphill battle and relying on us to perform the improbable of sweeping the Giants and hoping that St.L loses 2-3 games. Our team fucked up bigtime prior to this win streak. It's going to be frustrating enough that we miss post season play, and much worse if the Giants are the ones to kick us out! I should be happy we are in some sort of position of hope still, but the frustration of "what might have been"...or better yet, "what easily should have been" is eating me up. The ONLY cure is to get in to the LDS or it's going to be a long offseason full of hate and anger for me.
I asked this in the WC thread but I doubt anyone fishes around there. What would've happened if the Brewers, Cards, and Dodgers all finished with identical records? Right there with you Ford, except I might actually be satisfied with getting to the game against the Braves. One game is a crapshoot anyways. At least it shows we mean business next year.
Well, that might be the cure...as long as we win it! No seriously, you are right. Although I feel this team should actually have won the division, I guess it was more realistic to think that a Wildcard game against the Braves was the more likely option. None of us foreseen the Scutiro advantage and that the team never let up after the cheater was caught. They actually got better post Melky, and I thought they would for a couple weeks, not like 40 games and counting. This is insane!
I wonder if we tie the Cards if we'll sell out the Thursday tie breaker or not lol. We should be certain but who knows with our fanbase! ..quick! Get a Cruz bobblehead and the white towels ready!
tell you what as bad as we've been getting hot at the right time if we somehow get in we are the team no one wants to play
I answered that question at the other thread... the thing that REALLY worries me is that Dusty is the master of resting his players, so if lets say we win the first 2 and the Cards lose 1 of 2, this might be down to the last day of the season... if by then the NL top seed has been decided, I fully expect Dusty to go with a AAA kind of lineup, setting it up for a massacre from the Cards...
A lot of improbable shit has to fall in place for us, but it's not impossible. No matter what happens, we all know it's our own fault if it doesn't work out. Like was said many years ago in the Pogo comic strip, "we have met the enemy, and it is us". That will be the real deal if it all goes south, not the Giants or the Cardinals. IMO. There will be no one feeling sorry for us, because of the truth. As it all turned out, the Pads and the Dodger ass-kickers Rox, were not so insurmountable at all. And let's face it, we should NEVER have lost that 2-1 game to SD. There really no sense rehashing the whole year, because it will be the same problems it always has been for us... the "who we sign next year and who we need at what position" posts have started already, and the team is almost completely different than it was at the start of the year. That being said, it can all happen...and I surely do like our chances if it does. It would be damn nice to be back in the post season, and to represent ourselves in the old Dodger traditions. It's been a long strange trip, hasn't it?
Great post... if we miss the playoffs its because of the many 3-1 and 4-2 games we lost against lower teams... how many games did we lost against AZ, Colorado and SD? we played 5-14 from July 30 to Sept 12 against those teams.Switch that to 14-5 and we might be talking about the division instead of the WC... If we were doing something right at the beginning of the year it was that we were winning the games we should have won, beating the low teams and giving a good fight to the top teams...
