i don't understand how people can argue that if they win it all it will be three championships in five years (while we're 0-for-26... and counting) posey, sandoval, bunghumper and a bunch of also rans but it's those also rans that often make the difference guys like pence (who's hugely underrated in my book), pagan (when healthy), crawford, belt, whoever same with the cards and matheny; holliday/wainwright/molina with jay, carpenter, wong, adams and so on... talent wise, they don't match up to us... not by a long shot so how is it they consistently manage to beat us? same with the phillies in '08 and '09 we've had different players, so what's the constant?...
the baseball I.Q. and unselfishness of the players, and yep..a manager that doesn't make many mistakes. if we're honest about the Dodgers, than we know that they aren't the smartest team. our smartest/baseball I.Q. everyday guy is probably AJ..who just pretty much sucks talent-wise and then AGon is next. AGon, who for some reason, turned into a dummy this post season and failed to work counts and popped the ball up on 1st pitches just about everytime he made contact. all the rest are dummies. extremely talented. but dummies.
Posey won an MVP. Bumgarner is a top 10 starter. Pence is a top 10 outfielder probably. Cards have a very, very talented core. Phillies had Utley who was probably MVP back in the day and Howard was still a force. We've gotten out played in 08,09,13,14. No doubt we're as talented as them NOW. 08,09 I'm not sure... But I think all the teams that beat us were very talented Irish
Baseball has taught me that talent means jack shit in the playoffs. I still claim that a lot of our guys try to be heroes instead of playing smart late in the game when we're down. They just gave away at bats.
no, you're right chris, they were/are talented and maybe it's me wearing my dodgers allegiance, but it sure seemed like our teams were always deeper/better than the opposition and it wasn't just the stars, it seemed/seems like the bit-part players that often beat us the stairs, jays, blantons, wongs, etc., that got to us

Who was it that posted with an avatar of a glass case which read "SF Giants WS Trophies" on it...and it was totally empty. It was really a good smack in the face, and it really wasn't so long ago...was it Darth or M.Brown maybe? does anyone else remember that? How sad it is that they are on the precipice of winning possibly their third in such a short time. We could easily have something similar based on the last 26 years put up by SF fans...so maddening, and so sad. If the Dodger FO sits back and watches this happen again with three WS championships (even appearances is bad enough!) and do jack shit about it like they have since Ned got here, then they don't deserve shit. The Dodgers will be a source of spring/summer entertainment, and they will have truly torn the heart out of Dodger fans everywhere. I am re-reading the brilliant "The Boys of Summer", and that deep rooted love and will to win seems a thing of the past. It has nothing to do with Brooklyn, or Brooklynites or the old days or any of that stuff. It's something intangible, and no one seems to know what it is...we were the second best in those days, but we did have our glories. Now, I don't know where we stand anymore. Even our record breaking best players fall apart at the times where strength of heart and focus is needed most. All the time, incredibly...all the time. I guess that sounds pretty hokey, I know, but the answer sure isn't what I read year after year after we lose again and again. How must it feel to root for a team that does what the fucking Giants do and have done? they way they play in the post season... Pretty goddamn good I would say... Lucky bastard Giant fans. what's your point? of course not Royals and potentially Giants making the WS and us not making the 2nd round pisses me off, though, cause we're way better than both of those teams smh
I really don't want the Royals to sweep. Last few teams to sweep the LCS lost because they had too many days off. I want whoever comes out of the NL to get beat.
