It's a shame someone who's been with the team all year gets left off the post season roster. Feel for a guy who plays his ass off, but it's a sound decision. Culbertson will give you a better AB off the bench and is a better option in the infield. Also like the idea of a third catcher.
i like kike unfortunately he became a liability at the plate seemed like he was looking fastball every pitch and even when he got one he wasn't all that effective i have no argument with not putting a .190/.283/.324 guy on our postseason roster especially when there were better options
Home-Field Advantage in NLDS not important to Jansen by Daniel Starkand | Dodger Blue — 16 minutes ago The Los Angeles Dodgers closed out the regular season in disappointing fashion, losing five of six games after clinching a fourth straight National League West title. The skid prevented them from securing home-field advantage in the NL Division Series. Though, in some regard that was a wash as the Washington Nationals’ win on Saturday would have guaranteed them home field even if the Dodgers had not been swept by the San Francisco Giants. Friday’s NLDS opener will see aces Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer duel at Nationals Park. Los Angeles of course will not have the luxury of hosting a potential Game 5 in the NLDS. The value of home-field advantage is often debated throughout baseball. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said it was something his club would pursuit, but only as part of the bigger picture of playing quality baseball during the final week of the regular season. Roberts didn’t seem worried nor perturbed in failing to clinch home-field advantage. Kenley Jansen is also among those who was unmoved by that, via Bill Plunkett of the OC Register: “To me, it doesn’t matter,” said Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen who pitched a desultory eighth inning Saturday. “We just don’t want to go home after the first round again.” Los Angeles had home-field advantage in the NLDS over the past two seasons and were eliminated by the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets. In 2013, the Dodgers began the first round on the road against the Atlanta Braves, and won the series in four games. The Dodgers went 53-28 at home this season, compared to a 38-43 mark on the road. Although regular-season results are cast aside more times than not, the Dodgers won five of six head-to-head meetings with the Nationals, including winning two of three in Washington D.C.
Another omission from the roster is JP Howell. With the team all year and now a spectator. Like Kike, it was a good decision. Every time out is a walk on a tight rope.
In CKs last 4 post season games, his ERA is 1.50 through the 6th inning. After that, including the BP allowing his inherited runners to score, his ERA skyrockets to over 11. His last post season game he gave up 3 hits and 1 run to the Mets in the 4th game.
he's never been the same since that nlds game against the cards we were up 2-0 the entire game and then he shat the bed in the 8th when kemp saved his bacon and he began gesticulating towards the heavens like an idiot
Austin Barnes sucks. He can't hit. He has no business on this roster... or out AA Woods has looked good several times and could come in handy in this series
Loose reference to a guy who hardly ever pitches because he's hurt. Of course that would include quite a few pitchers on this roster.
He's shown nothing to this point to suggest he's good, he's not exactly a young prospect who is going to continue to grow, and it's been clear all season long that the Dodgers don't really think much of him. It's a surprise that he's on this roster, but, I think it's more about Ruiz ability vs. Segedin and Enrique then it is Barnes.
I wonder if he gets that opportunity hext year..? Idk what the Ruiz terms are, whether he's back, etc. But it could be that he is Grandal's back up next season. I'm sure sending out AJ, wasn't totally a move for Ruiz alone. He has hit at every level, it's true...except the big club. But, s s s...
I don't think people hate him. Just surprised intially at the move to include him on the roster. But with the Ruiz PH factor, and not wanting to lift Grandal, it makes sense...but Idk if it's hate, per se.
which says a lot at this point, doesn't it? I don't think the front office is jerking him around to be mean to him, part of my point is that the Front office & scouts clearly didn't think he could do much to help the MLB team this year, so that is pretty telling to us. He might end up a solid back up, thats a good scenario for him, but when you choose other shitty players ahead of him all year, it says a lot about him. Especially considering they were desperate for a righty utility bat, they didn't even think he could do something. I was excited about him when they got him but it seems rather clear to me this year that they've soured on him considerably
