I think if KKemp did go to the Mets, for instance, he would flourish there. At least for a season or two. The nitty-gritty of NY and the glamor of coming from Hollywood would be in his favor. He'll always K like crazy; it's his nature.
I have no idea what the MYM have to offer for him, but it has to be someone immediately good I would think. Not prospects. We do need help in quite a few areas, so we should address them if we are going to move Matt.
I believe the SFags are trying to catch lightning in a bottle with Peavy as they have multiple times before, and we have to smack it down, one way or another, immediately.
At least they are trying though.

Kemps attitude notwithstanding, all of our focus should be trading Dre not Matt. I was reading up on what Stewart actually said and it wasn't as inflammatory as reported they emphasized the most controversial part. I just hope they trade him to the AL if it does happen.

I've been thinking and wondering. How much value would Alex Guerrero have in a trade? He has been lighting up every level he has been it, albeit he hasn't been playing that long, but he still has been hitting. I think Guerrero is very expendable. Just anything to prevent trading Seager, Pederson, and Urias.

Joc would be expendable if he weren't the only CF in the entire organization.

Well, we'd have to offer him at a discount...the new team wouldn't be getting a whole player...

Seriously though, at this point I wouldn't let Guerrero go plus he's got a nice little contract we'd probably have to eat. The reason I wouldn't let him go is that he has value in an infield that is by no means settled for next season, and so far, as you say, it looks like he has a bat that will play. Plus he gives the flexibility for those of you who conjecture that Dee or Hanley or someone might be asked to move to the outfield. For my money, it's way too soon to play the half-ear card.

Apparently Corey Seager has been pulled from the game at AA-Chattanooga and he isn't injured?

This better not be real life

The Dodgers are shopping Matt Kemp, says Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. He adds that five teams “have shown interest, or at least talked to the Dodgers.” While Kemp has received frequent playing time, other issues have boiled to the surface between club and player. Included among those is a less than “smooth” relationship with the field staff. Rival executives have heard of the same problem, which could affect his trade value. Kemp’s contract, with $117MM remaining, could also impede a deal.

So their is a rumor going around that a deal of Joc and a mid-level prospect (I would think someone like Lee, Reed, Anderson etc) for Lester, however the rumored deal is contingent on an extension being worked out. Just have to wait and see.

If the team does move Joc, that better mean that we are in on Rusney to restock the OF depth.

By Edward Creech [July 27, 2014 at 4:00pm CDT]

The Red Sox are considering a trade with the Dodgers involving Matt Kemp and Jon Lester as the principals, a club source tells Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com. The Dodgers’ interest in Lester was reported yesterday by Edes.

Kemp’s name is being floated since the Dodgers are unwilling to part with top outfield prospect Joc Pederson, according to Edes. Centering a deal around Kemp, however, is problematic from the Red Sox’s perspective because of the $107MM remaining on his contract. For the deal to make any sense for Boston, Edes reports the Dodgers would have to be willing to eat a considerable amount of money, but they might be willing to do so for a pitcher of Lester’s caliber despite him being no more than a two-month rental. The Red Sox preference, however, is a package centered around Pederson.

Earlier today, it was reported Kemp is a backup plan for the Mariners while the Yankees are not currently in on the Dodgers outfielder. Kemp has also been linked to the Indians and Rangers recently.

Edes also notes Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels is not available and the Red Sox have not inquired about Cliff Lee. For more on the 2014 trade market, check out MLBTR’s position-by-position breakdown.

i don't wish dave stewart would die
but if were to get chronic laryngitis i'd be okay with it

Dave Stewart on Matt Kemp: "Right now, Matt is playing the game pretty well. I know there would be takers out there." #dodgers

We helped the Sox get rid of Crawford, now it's time they help us get rid of Kemp.
