This is the strangest year of all. I didn't think we had a chance to start the season anyways, so shouldn't I be happy we are in this position? Guess not!
I don't think it has to do with behind the scenes leadership. They are a good bunch but it doesn't matter if they love eachother if they can't get a big hit. It seems as if it takes one big hit a game to get shut started and that hit hasn't come
Well, I feel the same way...but then I look at the Angels...similair lineup with far better rotation(on paper) and they haven't won 13 of 15 yet.
They are probably just pressing and trying to hard to get XBHs and be the heroes. They know they are sputtering, and probably just trying to do to much. Obviously if they just relax and play within themselves, they will out talent anyone around. I'm just very scared that this giant payroll thing and large egos will start to eat away at them if they struggle too long(like BOS). This is how fingerpointing, unhappy players, and shit starts. That is when leadership is paramount.
Still 6 more against the gnats. I'd prefer to be up 3.5, but either way things are going to be interesting down the stretch.
If the season started again with our team as constructed we'd win the division. The problem now is it might be too small of a time period to make up the ground.
absolutely agree and as much as people downplay it, chemistry -- in this case; getting to know each other, knowing how to play with one another -- is a huge component
That's what I've never wanted to say but as far as the NL West is concerned, um, yeah. We are done. It's gotten to that point. It took until the end of August to happen, but it has happened. There just isn't any way.
well if you've been waiting to make the thread since may, this is what you've been waiting for. i just don't know why you hate the dodgers so much man. its not like they don't try...wheres your confidence TB?
I don't know man. I hate them so much and want them to lose so much I watch them everyday and even spend hundreds of dollars on tickets to go to the stadium and monitor the losing progress for my enjoyment.
We ain't winning the west that is almost certain. Weak pitching/bullpen, and an offense that is only good on paper. Stick a fork in 'em, they're done.
I think the division is as good as over. We don't have control of the NL West destiny. I don't see a way we win the West. The new focus from a FAN's perspective should be hoping we simply start winning games and beat the shit out of the Cardinals in that 4 game series like they did to us in STL. Root against the Cards. Root against ATL. Root against PIT. That's our mindset. The player's mindset has to be taking it one at bat at a time. Pitching has to be better overall somehow. When we get down, it throws everything off. Our team right now doesn't know what fundamental offense is. Instead of doing the little things here and there to chip away at leads, they have their minds on taking the lead instead of just playing the game. Trying to do everything at once which is not possible. Then they don't score at all and games get out of hand. One at bat at a time the rest of the way. This team is so unfocused and doesn't seem to be playing for each play.
Well, we also have to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless, and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights, while also promoting equal rights for women. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.
