Well we won a series against a lame team, and now we have 4 against a good braves team without our ace Lets see what happens
you know it can be bad when you watch us in the ninth. dbb is hyper manager in the middle to late innings pulling guys left and right and just leaves a guy thats toast to walk the bases juiced in a one run game. its deflating.
Looks like you guys covered the DBB thing already. Absolutely horrid managing. Would we have probably lost anyways? Sure. But it's his fault the damage got so bad in the 9th.
A lose is a lose, why does it matter if it's by more than 1 run really? Why burn the pen out? Remember who's pitching tonight. Greinke has been lucky to go 5 innings and the Braves hit HRs, it might be a disaster. Not to mention Guerrier is just taking up space being injured but not on the DL. We need more arms again. Now Kershaw's gonna pitch kind of mediocre because he went 132 in a game...been less than Kershaw ever since. maybe it's time to pull the reins back on him abit? This team is back to shit...again....the fun lasted 2 fucking days! When Marquis shuts you down like he did, you can't win, even Don couldn't make it happen, it was lost by the 4th inning. I'll tell you guys what, I was at that game and it fucking sucked ASS! Every half inning S.D. was up seemed like it was an hour long. Our halfs seemed like 3 minutes. I feel I've been pretty patient with this team(at least more than most fans I've talked with) but I'm just about done with all that. Just when you think things might turn around, they don't. The misery just continues on. I'd prefer to lose everygame of the season than be lured in with 2 wins in a row followed by 2-3 loses in a row. Fuck this team, they just suck at baseball. Can't even get a guy in a rundown or throw from SS to 1B. Nobody but our minor leaguers called up can hit the ball over the fence with any regularity. Errors/Injuries/No Power/Shitty Bullpen(even though it's the same damn pen from last year). A Whole New Blue.
Uh, that's the point. He let Paco throw a shit ton of pitches when he was clearly done, only to exhaust another reliever anyways! In both scenarios he used 2 relievers. And he waited too long. I've been off the bash Don stuff and still am off that wagon. But he screwed up in the instance. Oh well though. We would've done whatever it took to lose regardless. I was at the game as well. I left when they Padres scored the second run of the 9th inning. They gotta start trying to weed out what they can, change the marketing slogan, trim the fat, make some FO decisions, and kind of take a step back and reassess. Whatever the current formula is isn't working...health issues or not.
Jorge Jarrin is so stupid and useless that Kevin and Dave have to interrupt him, cut him off, or try to accelerate his thoughts now because he not only knows nothing about baseball, he rambles. It's funny how Kevin tries to be polite about it.
and anytime Jorge says something, nobody has anything to agree with, to expand on, etc. After Jorge speaks Kevin has to try to get the show back on track almost. I actually feel sorry for Jorge. He's so bad at a job he probably really loves.
So we lost 1 of 3 games?? But Quentin wasn't hit in the ribs!?!? The fuck is that bullshit!?!?
Well, part of my post was done in anger(towards the Dodgers not you). I was right next to the pen again tonight. Paco got the last 2 outs the previous inning IIRC. He then went out(the disaster inning) and immediatly gave up a hit. I looked over and the phone was ringing, the pen started to stir. Then Howell was walking over to the mound to start tossing the ball. By the time he was actually throwing the ball hard in the pen, the next guy was walked. He seemed to take awhile to warm up too, maybe that's him and as you know, it was a cool night, at least it was in that LF corner. It didn't seem to take long until the next guy was walked and the bases were juiced. Reality says you have to warm a guy up properly. You don't warm a guy up "just in case" every inning, you'd run out of guys and/or wear them out. We'd expect Paco to get at least an out or 3 that inning because he's been good for us. Again, people always want to blame the manager...but how about we blame the pitcher who couldn't do his job. He techniscally only pitched 2/3 of an inning for crying out loud. I mean what use are these guys if they can't be expected to pitch two complete innings once in a while? Paco has been pretty good, so I'm not gonna start wishing for him to get Aids or anything. He just had a bad inning in a horrible game. In other words, that Paco shit wasn't Don's fault. I know we always seem to witch hunt for reasons why we lose, but I'm tired of Don(or any manager) always taken the rap because a guy can't do his job. Like one that can't get through a couple innings against the fucking horrible Padres team that doesn't have a single player hitting over .300! These players are failing us, it's not Ned and it's not Don, or McGuire, Honey! It's the fucking players that have talent and almost every man to a T has been far better in their recent pasts individually or collectively.
Mattingly is showing desparartion, IMO, and he doesn't have the players, or in some cases the player's performing at the level to make the moves he wants to. It seems he hasn't learned the weaknesses and strengths of the staff as it ebbs and flows, and maybe in 10 years, he will have it together, but certainly not yet. I see so much Torre in him, and that leaves me as flat as Demi Moore before the implants. He may do a Proctor on Howell, in the great JoTo tradition of blowing out arms. In fact, the Dodgers themselves have a tradition of blowing out great arms, and hopefully, this is not what we are witnessing with the truly great and talented Clayton Kershaw. I can understand DBBs frustrations and his hearing footsteps. Must suck. Ned is a classic asshole, that escapes under the vail of every excuse known to man...his epic bad signings are legendary in modern BB history, and we need a new GM for next year. Ask yourself why the Giants let him split, and became the best team in BB after he did in a few years. Because they recognized the guy for what he is. Where have we gone with this guy in all his time? Unless the playoffs is good enough for you...big deal. I don't like Greinke as much as everyone else seems to. What he was and what he is right now, at least to me, are night and day. I see a struggling pitcher, and I think he crashes and burns against the Braves. Poor Big Yas; he seems so crushed by not having a super night...he seems to feel extraordinarily bad when he doesn't come through. It's OK Big Yas.
I figured somebody would come back with something like this. I feel I did explain it, but I guess not. I know full well what Clayton is and as well as you do, and what his stats are. He is a potential HoF pitcher, and his dominance is obvious , even to the likes of me. It's just an observation, and I do see a somewhat different pitcher out there, sometimes a bit fatigued sooner in the game than before. I am very concerned that he is getting overused in situations that don't really need him to have that pitch count EVERY FUCKING GAME. Last night's game was a perfect example. Even a young powerful horse like CK can wear down; I see it it a bit, and it's June... there's a long way to go. That's what I'm saying. If you don't agree, that's fine. It doesn't matter what we write anyway, because if a manager is ignorant at times, there's nothing that can be done about. The LAD are well known for it, and CK is being handled just like all the others were. I hope he doesn't, but if he walked come contract time, he'd probably extend his career pitching somewhere else by doing doing so. I just don't want to see it because the bullpen, assembled pile of shit that it is, can't do their job and have no consistency. If I'm wrong, then good. I hope I am.
The last-place Dodgers could have passed the Padres in the NL West standings with a victory, but they never led while falling to .500 at home with a 16-16 record.
The thing that confused me is he uses Belisario for two hitters, then tries to extend Paco forever to try to get a lot more outs. If you are trying to save the bullpen a bit, then keep Belisario in there a bit longer. If you are trying to manage for every out, then bring in Howell to begin the 9th. It's like in the 8th and 9th he had two different mindsets. And I actually didn't mind him trying to start Paco out for the 9th, but you could tell from the first batter (or at least the second) that he wasn't going to get anyone out that inning and was wild as fuck. Bring in Howell right away.
