Yet you're ok with moving a career RF to CF who has average speed at best. Puig is not a great RF, just his arm which again would apply great to CF. I hope you don't expect to move Hairston or VanSlyke to CF. You never answered my question about if Ethier and Skip aren't available like vs. a LHP or if Skip's needed at 2B. Who's in CF? It is beneficial to have Puig as versatile as possible since we soon can have 6 fulltime OFers on the roster. He is young and has the ability to play CF. Let him at least be available, we can't rely on Kemp obviously. I'd like to see Puig play all 3 OF spots for the first few years of his time here until we can iron out who will be available.
then play Uribe, who has been hot recently... the point is to stop running out Cruz and Hairston basically...
I certainly can't argue with that. IMO, Uribe should start 3B pretty much daily until he falls apart or begins sucking like Uribe can.
^Agreed and if you want Cruz in the line-up (I know nobody here wants it) then put him at SS. A little worried about over using the Shredder and Schumaker.
The ONLY way Crux should EVER play is at SS, because that's where we have the least depth. But to stick him at 3B over Uribe, and bat him 5th is a travesty. I honestly felt like Mattingley was flipping us all off when he made that lineup yesterday.
Should have clarified, I don't want Cruz to start all the games at SS, if you are going to play him, play him there occasionally and keep Uribe at 3rd full time. My bad.
Here we go Yasiel the real deal is batting 4th. Punto SS Ellis 2B Gonzalez 1B Puig RF Hairston LF Ethier CF Uribe 3B Federowicz C Kershaw P
I think Don looked at the matchups and gave them more value than he should, as usual. IIRC...vs. Minor= Uribe 0-4 /Cruz 2-3 1HR Pretty small sample size and am not sure if Cruz' ABs were from last year when he was good or this year when he's beyond horrific. It was a bad choice and doesn't explain all the other times Cruz was used to start 3B over Uribe. He took a beating so hopefully he stops it. and He did! Punto SS Ellis 2B Gonzalez 1B Puig RF Hairston LF Ethier CF Uribe 3B Federowicz C Kershaw P
Puigs hitting cleanup Him hitting behind Adrian is funny, and can't wait for 1 or 2 in the order to get the last AB in te game with it on the line Oh well, lets win
I would have waited to do this move but you have to look at our situation. What it tells me is that we are officially in PANIC mode!!!
Hmm. If Mark Ellis is considered the ideal 2nd place hitter because he will take pitches to allow the runner to steal or hit to a certain spot in the field to get the runner over then is Yasiel really that equipped (so far) to do that for us? Remember Yasiel is naturally aggressive and putting him 2nd doesn't fit to me. I recall a previous debate about putting AJ 2nd or not and if I remember it was a consensus that he should be 2nd and he is slower than AGon.
